  • Fuel system cleaning

    Hey guys,

    Fresh to xBHP..first post

I wanted to get my Pulsar 150 (2005) get a new lease of life .

    1. Flushed its engine and had Shell synthetic filled up - Performance change is really noticeble (when compared with ts mineral cousin) and all those who negate synthetic oil performance, I can assure you that smoothness will arise within next 200 Kms..just wait for it with open mind.

    2. This is where I m totally stuck. Wanted to clean the fuel line so that input equals output... but for some reason, I m not able to find the right fuel system cleaner. I m aware of all the topics in xBHP forums dicussing this, but my dilemma lies in following space.

    > Has anyone tried doing this before ?

    > Acetone is favorite alternative for most mechanics, but unleaded fuels tend to overheat the cylinder due to low quality acetone mixture.. and sources of acetone are really dubious. Any inputs here ?

    > Motul stands out from the crowd with its bike specific fuel system cleaner solution ? Has anyone ever tried it ? I have been unsuccessful in getting this one in Hyderabad / Chennai. Inputs/Pointers are most welcome.

    > The other product which I feel can match or possibly exceed expectation is 3M fuel additive. Again availibility in Hyd / Chen is as tough as finding a snow leopard in Ladakh.

All inputs in this regard is welcome and appreciate lively discussion.

    Cheers

sorry forgot to add ... flushed my bro's P220 with 3M last weekend. Before we flushed it out, we checked for the oil viscosity with the "finger roll test" and color testing against white paper... color=dark deep brown ( almost rust like ) and "finger roll test" results were not confirmatory.. we anyhow planned to flush it .. added about 100 ml and throttled engine for about 15 min. The effluent was striking ... it completely transformed to a dark black liquid and along with it came what I suppose carbon deposits ( fine dust). Refilled with Motul 300V. So, there goes my experience with 3M flushing.
