  • Help please - 17" Rim for ZMR

I am planning to put 17" rim for my ZMR (only rear) against the current 18".

Reason - I will have wide range of tire choices and I won't have to chip the swing arm or chain case if i put wider tire.

Now can anyone help me to figure out which 17" wheel on rear is a straight fit.

I hope the Dazzler's wheel will fit. Any idea ?

i dont suggest you to go in for a 17 inch rear just to get better tyres. how do u think u are going to manage handling issues with 18 frnt 17 rear. also your braking can be effected and can cause undesirable results. the brakes are designed for 18 inches.

in 18 inches, u have pirelli sport demon, m45 and pilot sporty ( striaght fit).

i cnt even tell u to go for both 17 inches, as if u go for front 17 inches, again ur braking and speedo would go for a toss.

i too suggest not to change the rim instead change the tyre.

of course, you will get wider tyre range to choose from. But in 18" also there are enough tyres
Pirelli SD : soft compound, excellent grip
Michelin Pilot sporty : similar to SD, a bit harder.
Michelin M45, M35 : excellent balance between road and semi-off road , VFM. but tube type
Michelin sirac, sirac street : more off road tread. tube type
MRF zapper Q, meteor : harder compound, long life.

          wide enough, eh?

AFAIK Sirac which we get here isn't a direct fit to ZMR..but still going for a 17" rear rim isn't advisable..it can effect stability of bike in many ways..

go for pirelli or michelin in 18 inch rims . sports demon 110/80 -18 should be a direct fit and so will michelin pilot sporty 100-90-18 .

if you are hell bent on changing rims then change both to 17 not 1 . it will make bike handle better but ground clearance will decrease and speedo readings will also change a bit .too much expense for little benefit IMO .

Okay keeping all the comments in concern I will drop the idea of changing to 17"

What I thought was, if I put 17" there will be enough space between the swing arm to accommodate 120 size without any chipping. And I think the profile of Sirac is larger in 17" (120/90-17) that can take care of height. Thou there will be marginal height difference I thought that will not hamper much.

                Thanks guys for the feedback.
