  • Help diagnose the problem - Enfield Tbird

    Hi Riders,

Offlate the mileage of my Tbird has gone down drastically. I seem to get only 28-30 kmpl in city conditions way down from 38-40 earlier. Also i am not able to hit speeds more than 80 kmph. If i push more than that bike seems to stall as it does when running dry or hitting reserve.

I dont know much about the mechanics of the bike so wanted to see what the issue coule be before taking it to a mech.

Get the carburettor float checked and the float needle replaced if possible. Also check the head for carbon build up.

Before all this, make sure the Air-Fuel screw is tuned properly. A generic setting would be all the way in, and then about 2 - 2 1/2 turns out.

My offerings to the gods of speed -

        - KTM Duke 200
        - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

The silencer is glass wool. Now i dont know if that comes under a free flow silencer or not...

I was referring to the GOLDSTAR or similar type of silencer where you get the heavy beats

I use goldstar silencer sometimes and there is drop in fuel efficiency but the throttle response is great.

                Did you check your carb?

Get it checked from a Good Mechanic

                  Hi,
There is no point in speculating what might be the problem, a good Mechanic by taking a round can identify the exact problem and give you the solution, rather than It can be this or it can be that. When you are sick you need to visit the doctor first, identifying the problem is very important otherwise you wll end up losing money on this or that.
If u had been in Bangalore you problem would have been sovled by a click.

                  Regards,
                  Amit
