  • My Rtr nearly struck by a maniac Car?/queries

I was going to college the other day n while taking a U turn a really fast car nearly killed me .if i had just been a metre on the left it would have hit me bad .The car hit my helmet lock and crash guard n sped away.i was so shocked I couldnt even see its number plate . i didnt even realise the leg guard is bent till i gave the bike for service

The service guys said they might be able to fix it with hammer but it also has risk of Breaking .will they hammer it after taking it off the bike or when the crash guard is still fixed ?? Also is there any chance that the Frame of the bike might have got bent ?

Ialso had a puncture the other day n the guy put a new tube in tire.He said it was Mrf but it looked Local to me ,r there sizes in tubes or is it one size fits all tyres ? should i change tube to Tvs one ?

Also while downshifting and after releasing the cluth sometimes my rear wheel kinda skids for a second . why?

Lucky that you escaped unhurt. No chance of the bike's frame being bent.

About the rear wheel, try rev-matching. That is, when you downshift, just blip the throttle a little just before you release the clutch lever. The amount that you need to blip will come by experience. It is very helpful while downshifting, especially at high revs since it practically eliminates rear wheel lock up and front fork dive.

Puneet, Buddy you are lucky, these car drivers can be rash at times..Take care..where did the incident occour?

            Okay answers:

1)Ask them to remove the leg guard and hammer it, if it breaks then buy new one. If the leg guard is in two piece, buy only one side. I am not sure about this two piece thing, sorry if I am wrong.

2)It seems the leg guard has taken the beating, I dont think the frame would have suffered any damage, ask any one else to ride your bike and see if there is any damage. or else try this yourself, in an open empty straight smooth road, while riding leave both your hands from the handle and see if the bike steers itself to left or right, that gives a basic indication about the front damage.

PS: Do it in your own risk, this is used assess damage in the front portion of the bike.

3)If you have the plastic packing of the new tube you can know the brand of the tube, generally puncutre wallahs have 100/90-18 tubes as these are common size and yes different tyres have respective tubes for the tyres. If you think that the right size is not used, go ahead and change the tube to MRF/TVS/DUNLOP from a bike spares shop for less than 200 bucks. make sure that the tube is 18 inches and 100/90 for rear and 17 inches and 90/90 for front, Dont Do the mistake of change the rim diameter, it may prove to be fatal.

4)Skidding while downshifting might occur with the kind of the Tyre TVS is using in RTR, so if you have money then shift to better tyres for your well being and good riding.

dont worry at all dude .. it happened to me too .. when a person comming from the wrong side hit me .. the tvs people did it for me for free ,, and i cant even make it out ,, but the sad news is .. my foundation frame got bent .. and i have given it to the CBZ to sort it out ,, just check it out ..
but dont go fot tvs serv they will say that there is no problem ..

when you you are at higher RPM's and then downshift then it will skid .. bring it to low rpm and then downshift .. it is a method of breaking ..

                          No.
There is no 'procedure', but there are certain 'rules' to be followed while making an entry/exit into/from a lane. One just cannot barge in from anywhere. Period.
These rules are laid down by designated authorities to inculcate safe riding (& driving) habits in roadusers. And their violation attracts heavy penalties and the 'guilt-feeling'!

If you are entering into another lane while taking a turn (or a U-Turn, as in your case), you are supposed to make way (wait) for the upcoming vehicles which are already using that lane.

Moreover, in your case, the car must be in the rightmost lane while you were saved by some heavenly miracle.
Do you know what does the rightmost lane is doing there on the road?
It is supposed to be used for highspeed cruising OR for overtaking, which again means some sane high speeds! And you tried to enter into that lane without paying any attention to the upcoming car in that lane. This is what wrong you'd committed.

For a second, try to think about the people in car who spotted you coming out of nowhere into their lane!

Express gratitude to your stars that you are still here among us and survived that brush to tell us the 'story'!
