  • Top speed question.

    hello guys.
i have pulsar 200cc. i am very peaceful rider no rush. always use to change gear in 2nd after speedo hits 10-15kmph. but when i saw how people used to drive for fastly reaching high speed on speedo. so i tried maximum speed that can be reached in first gear.
so i tried many times and found my bike stuck on 45kmph and after that have to shift gear in 2nd.
my frnd has p220dtsi and he said he can rev in first gear upto 100kmph.
    so i am really disappointed.
so please masters tell me wether it is a problem and if yes then please tell me the solution. i have recently changed sprocekt set, clutch plates , tyres, after market clip-on.
    please friends help me.

Please change your friend, your problem will be solved.

No indian bike can touch 100 kmph in first gear.

i cant believe someone with enough technical knowledge to change sprocket etc would actually believe that the 220 touched 100 in first gear.

haha... firstly... your friend is a moron to even say that.

the quickest way to reach the top-speed on your bike is to change gears at the proper RPM.

if done right... your P200 will be able to reach a speedo-indicated 120/125kmph.

"top-speed" in each gear has nothing to reaching top-speed.
if you keep doing this... you will screw up the bike pretty quick.

Sit as a pillion on his 220 and ask your friend to take it till 100 KMPH in first gear. I guess this will resolve your problem.

                Super lame dude....
lemme tell you a similar experience.
We were doing a top speed run on a super splendor and my idiot "friend" took it to 70 in 2nd gear and the engine shut off then and there....
later he had to do pay 1000 rs. for engine head job....

I don't understand why the mods allow such stupid topics...

I request the mods to lock any such topics which make no sense and waste everyone's time...

If an Indian bike can do 100 in 1st gear, I must say that India has made tremendous progress in automotive technology and we should start selling bikes to Germany and USA now...
Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)

Guys, I dont want to spoil the fun over here but i believe that this guy really does not know much technicalities about bikes hence he might have asked this here. he sure has asked a silly question but who doesn't ask...

I remember asking similar question to my dad about my cd 100 touching top speed in first gear (when i was learning the bike) ... It really seems silly but he explained me that what i am doing is revving the bike hard.. and not touching the top speed..
later i realised what gears are for... today i know what i was doing was plainly because i did not know about it...

this seems to be a genuine query..

sorry again for spoiling the fun...

btw, i am still roflmao after reading his question and then reading the replies....
