    HOLY &%$#.........

Dude, If the 220 can reach 82 kph in first gear then most certinly it can do a top speed of some where around 190 kph and.... that would mean I have never even ridden my 220 in the last 1 and half year of owning one.

Buddy, all the pulsars can do in the first gear would be max 50 kph with massive speedo error.

Get your friend's speedo checked asap.....

Is there a possibility that the RPM meter & Speedo were interchanged , so we have a digital ODO & an analog speedo

I own a pulsar 220 and it never reaches more than 53 in second gear and yes my unicorn reaches 62 in second gear.......and yes both of my bikes are in top notch condition.

Shravanchoudhary how is your bike now..Hope you got your engine problems sorted out...Your friend is pulling your leg may be as a joke or because he knows you are in the learning process about bikes...Ignore such claims and get on with your life. When we grow up we loose these childish,....biggest,strongest,longest,etc., claims and become mature. Some don't and it is best to ignore such claims, and move on.Just my thought..

                Hey bro,
                sorry for the joke.
                Didnt mean to hurt anyone.

Apart, i think your friend has gone a heavy mod on his bike or just kidding you.

It is 1340cc Hayabusa which incorporates changing to second gear at 125kmph.

                Its impossible for Pulsar 220.
Better try yourself (with all safety gears) and on the condition of your friend that if engine is gone its his fault.

                You will get true result.
Apart Pulsar 200 is itself kind of good bike which doesnt want any alternatives.

If your friend owns a P220.. the 82kmph will be 2nd gear.. not 1st. My bike has altered(taller) gearing and it does the following top speeds in each gear

                  1st : 54
                  2nd : 88
                  3rd : 114
                  4th : 138
                  5th : ???(max I've done is 154)

All aforementioned speeds are speedo reads. (i.e. 7.3% more than corresponding GPS values.) The speeds reached at rev-limiter in each gear will be higher on my bike than stock due to the slightly taller gearing.

I think one of the thing needs to be checked by the mechanic - either it is the person (who is telling you all this.. needs a doctor) or his bike (a proper mechanic) ...

i think their is a problem with his speedometer, only thing is that person is not able to detect the same and he is fooling other with the same... may be a common problem with bajaj bikes.

Just pray that both " get well soon "
                    RIP Marco

Since the topic is on "Top Speed",I have a Query.
Does it make a difference in the top speed you can achieve depending on the way you shift?

It will make a difference to the top speeds attained in lower gears..maybe not when you are in the top gear...

The only thing is that you may be able to hit the top speed of the bike faster if you rev hard in the lower gears...

I don't think that the way we shift gears has an effect on the ultimate top speed of the bike...but it would certainly affect the time in which we get there...
Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)

Shifting the gears at proper rpm will let the bike reach top speed in the shortest time. (you'll know if you have tried 'Need for speed' drag races)

Oblivious you will reach the top speed faster if you shift well but my question was regarding the TOP(toppest) Speed.

But for me that joke was silly, The ZX-10R hits a top speed of 160km/hr+ in first gear, so by his calculation what will it be at 6th gear... jus kidding...

Lets get back to the topic. I have a similar doubt in this case, i.e i have managed to attain a top speed(speedo) of 122km/hr on my FZ16 which is done by revving to the max, the max speed on 4th gear was 99km/hr & similarly 122 on 5th, but i couldn't ever reach 99 nor 122 with proper gear shifts(say at 5k RPM)... this is a big doubt in my mind...
