  • Pulsar 180 dtsi problem

    Hello everyone,
I have a bike, pulsar 180 dtsi ug1. It has started giving problems lately.
I have changed the wheels(from spokes to mag wheels) and also changed the suspension.Other than that i have done full serivcing of bike(things related to engine, except gears and piston). The problem is that the bike vibrates alot and also the clutch plates worn off too fast. I have changed clutch plates 5 times this year(well i learned how to ride bike on this pulsar only).I am facing alot of false neutrals, gears get stuck and also the bike cant go above 100(in the 5th gear at 7.5k rpm it touched 100!!)and also the bike wobbles at this speed. I have changed mechanic many times, i didnt like the serivce centre of bajaj(which is in malad, i stay in mumbai). They dont care to listen and reply as if i have problem with my bike and the bike is alright!!
Though i have bought a new fz 2-3 days agom, but awaiting its registration no. And also i love this bike so gonna try once more.
What should i do to solve this problem?
My bike has clocked just 15k kilometres, as no one used to ride this bike when my dad purchased this bike. And what about the carberutor tuning?
    How to do that?
    Please someone help me!

The vibrations are somewhat more than the current pulsars in UG1 but need to check with a mechanic. The false neutral is also common with UG1 and u should live with it.The gears stuck because there is a spring type stuff(actually don't know the exact technical term) which connects to the gear shaft u need to replace it i also experienced this on my previous p150 ug1.The wobbling may be due to worn out conesets/tyre and due to a bend in alloys/false alignment of wheels.
If possible decarbonize the engine and clean/replace carburator and u baby will be back to its glory

        Thanks for the reply!
2 days ago i had to replace clutch plates again!
They were completely burned! And last time the clutch plate and drum were so badly damaged that bike was not running, even if i rev it at 7000 rpm in high gears or low gears(5 kmph speed). And the mechanic who fixes my bike wasnt there, and i needed the bike as i had work. That stupid mechanic put clutch plate set of pulsar 150!
So had to replace whole thing again!
Any idea which service centre is good in mumbai(kandivali-borivali side).
And also can the gears be replaced with new one from ug4?
I dont know if i should ask this but i also bought new fz 10 days ago, awaiting its registration no. When should i give it for first service? 500kms or 1000?
And also will changing the bulb void warranty?
        Thanks for the reply!

          Can anyone help me here?
I was thinking to change gear system in my pulsar, the question is can new pulsar's gear box be installed in ug1 pulsar 180dtsi?
And the new problem i am facing is engine overheats too much, i can feel the heat on my legs even after riding for 3-4 kms. These problems arise everyday, so it makes me think that should i get it repaired or should i sell it!

U cannot install the ug4 gearbox to your old pulsar. After the replacement of clutch plate engine will be somewhat heat, dont worry about but i cant believe that your clutch plate was wornout within 7K kms.i think clutch is engaging while u r riding.A normal clutch plate will last upto 30~35K kms minimum.Atlast one word keep your bike away from retard mechanics

yeah...but i gave it to authorised service centre for a year(dad gave it)...it got badly damaged during the july rains, the whole engine, petrol tank had water in it..the bike was fully under water for 15+hours!
After getting fed up of authorised service centres who did nothing but just oil change and tighten the clutch, tried different mechanics.i have changed clutch plates again, lets see how time time does it last. This bike has given nothing but problems from the beginning!

I really cant believe clutch plates wearing out at 7000kms, having owned a 180 classic for 5 years now. Ive changed the clutch plates on my bike around 2 times till date with a running of around 56k kms. The seems to be something wrong with the bike. BTW have u gone in for original clutch plates? if yes then how many plates did u install, if im not mistaken the 180 should have 6 plates as against 5 on the 150. Where in malad do you stay? i live in orlem and ive found a mech who is really good.....infact i have stopped going to reddy after i found this chap. PM me if you want his info.

                  hi there

                  One quick question:

The 180 DTsi V1 has 18 inch wheels, when your changed to mag wheels , what inch mag wheels are you running on now ?

the wheel size is same, as far as i know. The bike has a overheating problem, the clutch plates were giving problem within 2 years of purchase, even the front fork was bent during purchase, we complained about it to the dealer(sai service borivali) but they werent listening. Sai service sucks. I am using original clutch plates, i personally see to it that the mechanic uses original one. valvoline oil was good, but it runs out very fast.
The reason i bought new bike was pulsar was giving too many problems, i even had an accident few months ago because the bike's gear stuck and the person who was speeding behind me crashed into me!
I have bought fz but since its in runing in period i dont use it that much, just trying to be careful so that it doesnt give problems in the long run!

If the alloys that you put in are the alloys that are found in the the current pulsars then they are of 17inch. So what has happened is that your you would be running 17inch tyres on a 18inch bike. This will effect the gearing ratios and can lead to a earlier wear out time.

                        I didnt know about that!
I will check with the wheel size asap!
I havent installed the pulsar one, it is different from pulsar. Thanks for letting me know about that!
The bike has lost its pickup, and feels heavy, especially in traffic and on double seat. I avoid this bike for double seats. By the way can riding bike cause back problems?
I get exhausted after riding this bike(due to weight and mumbai's pollution)
Any tips on maintaining my new fz?
                        Does it have any problems?
I want to avoid creating new thread about it so asked here.!

well back ache is something that you can take care of by correcting your riding position , Just by not leaning forward on your bike your would be taking a lot of weight from your hands and strain on your back. Ride relaxed and loose and not stiff .
