Not sure about the 1st problem. But for the 2nd,As the SVC people suggested it may be due to fuel filter. I have changed myself twice in 16k kms due to the same problem as urs. After changing fuel filter it became normal. Recently they have reduced the cost of fuel filter.The last time when I changed it was 83 Rs.

1st > Yes i think its due to weak battery . Is ur bike starting with kick start..? also just press PASS button and see weather Light beam is Ok or its dim like 0 bulb while engine is in off position .

2> just give it a try + try cleaning Injector .

@krishnan and abhiwar- thanks for ur suggestions.will change the fuel filter.
@abhiwar- all other lights and horn are working fine though i havent tried the pass switch when engine is off. the kick start works fine when starting the bike after a break but when i want to start the bike immediately after running it for sometime the bike needs 7-8 kicks to start. For example at traffic signals it takes me 7-8 kicks to start. do i need to change the spark plug?

Regarding self start problem, do check the relay and get the battery checked from some independent shop to ascertain if battery is the culprit.

> if u find fluctuations in light or horn, give the battery for charging..
> if it starts after giving it some good rest, then check the wiring, it might be worn out
> first try with the fuel filter change (air filter) and check whether the problems show up again
> if starting problem still shows up..
-with light/horn fluctuations when OFF --> charge battery / replace,
-no fluctuations --> ask them to check your startor n battery on another bike, check it yourself...
if u find it good in other bike, then itz the worn out wiring...

for the 1st problem....the culprit is definitely the battery, but before replacing you can give it a try ......go to some good battery shop.....tell them to check the water level and gravity and fill it up with water of correct gravity........and get it charged..........then try....using it for few days.

Update:-

got the bike checked by SVC and they cleaned the fuel filter and said there was some prob with the wiring and battery need not be replaced. tested the bike and self start is working fine as of now and no probs post 6kRPM. lets hope no prob surfaces again.

1. You may have to replace the battery!
2. You may have to clean the fuel injector. Try using injector cleaner!
