    Doubt regarding Liscense Plates

    Is there a Law that specifies the use of License "PLATES" and not stickers?
    I have a big and clear sticker on my FZ's visor and yet ive been stopped several times by cops because its a sticker and not a plate,ive been fined at times too.
    if possible can anyone post a link to the "Traffic Rule Book"?

      I dont know about it, but i have been fined for no. plate too. Only the font was lil different and it was clear to read, yet they fined me!
      And also they said that my no. plate should be rectangular! Inshort he wanted money, and then checked my bike's bulbs(dont know why).After a while i called my friend who taught him a lesson!
      These policeman just needs some reason to fine(ahem bribe).

        For a homologated indian bike, yes its necessary to have a front number plate with the numbers clearly visible on a white background, atleast 1-1.25 inch in height.

        Generally if you are lucky, they wont stop you ( i have a front mudguard number plate on my R15 for 2 years, and touchwood no issues, Same thing i had gotten done on the ninja ).

          Hmm....Today i got pulled over and he asked me "why i dont have a plate" then he checked my documents and left me.I get a feeling that they use this excuse of having a sticker to pull over and check for documents since they aren't supposed to pull over ONLY to check dpcuments.

          anyway,is there any where i can read all the Road Traffic Laws?

            ^^ if you get to know, let me know also... but yes, they can stop you and challan you for not having a proper front number plate.

                  When I bought my bike, the dealer asked me to either write the numbers using paint or go for embossed/HSNP type plates as everything else is illegal and punishable by law. Thought he was saying some bullcrap and decided to get some fancy sticker type ones. But the shopkeeper too said the same. As stickers cost more than the paint writing, I guessed he was being honest.
