One thing that comes to my mind is fuel problem. Did you fill fuel recently, from a different bunk maybe?

My P150 doesn't run well when there is less fuel in the tank (< 2lts).. but I have no idea why that happens. Try filling 6lts of fuel from a different bunk and see whether there are any changes.

Getting gas from a different bunk SHOULD not pose such a problem. I get my bike filled from hundred different bunks (ok...100 was over exaggerated but still....).

When was the last time you got it serviced? If it has been some time then I suggest u to get it serviced. It might seem that the problem just started when you took it out yesterday but probably the problem has been building up from last few days and finally it gave away yesterday. Just see a mechanic. He should fix it.

i rode my friends victor today... and can you believe it....its proformance seemed better than my bike...,ive got it serviced recently...and its was running very very well....
the change seems just too drastic...to be something minor

One more thing you can do is to check if the air filter is chocked with dirt or soaked with water (because of rain).

Edit: You have installed K&N filter, am I right?

Edit2: "but when the engine is engaged and...." looks like some problem with the drive-train. Check your chain & sprockets at home and then go to the mechanic and get the clutch plates checked and anything else that might cause trouble.

i cleaned the air filter just a week back...
was using k&n but i have switched back to stock..

the engine when off gear seems ok...but when the engine is engaged and the bike is moving its sluggish, ruff, noisy and slow...have checked the brakes they r not tight...have chaecekd to oil it seems fine too...am totally out of stuff to check for...

                    1. worn out clutch plates?
                    2. Carb not properly tuned - running rich
                    3. Choke lever on?
                    4. Water entered air filter?

such a thing happened to me few months back...and the problem was...water inside the tank....
                      just do a quick check...
                      1) remove the petrol tank from the bike, drain out all the petrol an a big container..chk for the contamination.
                      2) remove the petrol tap...chk if the filter is chocked/clogged. treat symptomatically.

You said it all started after the bike has been parked somewhere. Someone put some sand or something through where is oil is poured?

@darsan - it was parked the same place i am keeping for it for the last few years..
@dcs - that can not be a possibility sincs there r no rains here recently...

the engine rev's f9 when of gear...and there is no rich blogging either...clutch plates seem f9 too....

but the chain sprocket thing can it degrade proformance to this extent??

You said engine noise was higher right? so it wouldnt be the chain. Anyway my advice would be not to run the bike like that it would probably extent the damage. Take it to the service center.
