  • rear tyre on apache rtr 160 refresh

I own an apache rtr 160.I bought it in february 2009.I've mostly had a good experience riding it.But i feel the rear tyre is a bit of a problem.I find that its very prone to skidding. On asking around i've been told that TVS tyres aren't the best.I've really lost confidence while riding my bike n really hesitate to touch even moderately high speeds because I don't trust the rear tyres.I'm also not sure if the rear brakes are great.
I'd like to know if its a good idea to change only the rear tyre to an mrf tyre.the front tyre doesn't seem to be a problem. Is MRF the best option? If so then which MRF tyre model would be the best? And is it ok for the rear and front tyres to be of different tyre brand and model?
Is it advisable to switch to a tubeless tyre?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

You should go for tubeless tyre only. they offer many benefits over tube type tyres.

MRF tyres are good. go for zapper c 100/90 TL or 120/80 TL

Pirelli speed demon is the best but not so good in gravel. also it's very expensive.
      similar is michilin pilot sporty.

ceat veritgo is a good option if you ride on bad roads.

        @chandru...
I was running on tvs --> Eurogrip tyres... in my pulsar.
The worst tyres i have ever ridden.
i would call it sticky... it reduced my top speed at each rpm till 6000rpm...
It is very unreliable on wet and mud surfaces and road grip is also below average.

Immediately change to any other good brand, MRF, Michelin, pirelli have so far given good feed backs..
using two different brands on a bike is a no issue, but if you use tarmac/road type tyre and off-road type tyre together, it can be a problem... or would need a bit more talent to handle.
I use MRF road type in d front and michelin off road type in the rear, d issue comes when you take turns in sand or mud.... the front wont be much confident as the rear tyre so an issue of slip can arise...
if you are using both of similar category but different brands there would be no problem... as far as you use good brands
Presence of MIND and self CONFIDENCE is the primary aspect You need to be on road, not what brand your riding gears are.
If you lack these two then DONT
