  • Seelin - Anti-puncture fluid - Has anyone used it?

Today when I went to Honda showroom for some service issues, they showed a demo of Seelin TL which is a fluid pumped inside the tube. It seems if you have any puncture, I'll block the hole and you even need not repair it!

They bought one vehicle and punctured it with a nail. After a while, they removed the nail and rotated the wheel. They said the fluid had blocked the hole and there was no need of any puncture repair.

Here is the website: SEELIN Tyre Sealant

Has anybody used it? Any side-effects?

I think it is quite similar to what Slime does..

Its not a new product actually the concept always been there. I've seen it on TV (Discovery turbo) long back. Also I've seen some ad's about local products here on the regional auto magazines which do the same job mainly for cars though. I'd really like to know how well this works. I already have two punctures in my back tyre tube. If this stuff doesn't work and ruins the tube it could be dangerous while riding. Would like to know more about this and the website SEELIN Tyre Sealant looks convincing.

Would this product still be effective when a very long nail gets in and punctures not only one side of the tube but the other side as well. Another query is, if this product seals off punctures so well, how do we know when there is a puncture and once a nail or metal piece has pierced the tube, how long will the product holdon before it is pulled out...

Yea if a very long nail pierces the other side of the tube it wont work i think, but in most of the cases it is quite uncommon that there will be long nail lying on the road however it has to be in a stand up position in order to pierce right? But in Tubeless tyres this wont be a problem, I will ask them about the size of puncture and post here again!

You will never know if there was a puncture you should check your tyres atleast once a week and if there is any sharp object just remove it and rotate the tyre and the liquid will seal it!

                        Hi guys,

The sealing liquid will only work when the wheel is rotating i.e while driving.

If you leave the vehicle to stand still the liquid will settle down at the bottom causing the air to escape through the puncture hole,if you were lucky to have the puncture
at the bottom while resting this won't be a problem.

But the liquid was intended to be used on the good tires,so if you were riding and got a puncture the liquid would come in contact with the hole and seal it ,so that we can return back safely and fix it later.

Exactly, But In tubeless tyres you can leave the nail there for months and nothing will happen and after a certain amount of time it will automatically come off!

How much do you need to pour in? is there any specified limit (ml)? for front and rear tire?

                              Guys,

I had ordered PFZ and asked my usual puncture wala to install it. When trying to install it, he could hardly get 40% liquid inside the tube that too with lot of struggle and green colored liquid creating mess all over the place. The reason is that, its not as easy as its published on website or advertisements. For PFZ, you need to thoroughly shake the bottle before starting to pour liquid in as it has some small (minute I should say) particles along with liquid and mixture needs to mix well, otherwise these particles will settle down at the bottom of the bottle. If you are in Bangalore, get PFZ guys to install it themselves. The liquid itself might be very useful but I could NOT get it done successfully.

Also, please note that its not that easy to pour liquid (any liquid for that matter) into the tube. If you recollect when we pour water from one container to another, the container getting emptied sucks in the air to refill the place filled earlier by water. Due to this basic scientific phenomenon, when you empty PFZ bottle into the tube using a straw like narrow tube, the liquid going in the tube comes back to PFZ bottle as vacuum gets developed inside the bottle (bcos there is no way for air to refill the bottle, like in case of water example mentioned above). Solution to this, I believe, is to make small hole to the PFZ bottle at the bottom while pouring the liquid in the tube.

With all the above theory said, I would recommend using slime instead of PFZ.
Two reasons. One being that its easily flowing liquid which is more viscous than PFZ and does not have any particles requiring to shake bottle continuously, making it difficult.
Second reason is that, slime is imported product and used worldwide, so I just feel more confident with it and lot of puncture walas recommend it too.

I had started a thread regarding the same puncture sealant quesion sometime back - here it is for your reference - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/...e-sealant.html

                              Hope this helps..
