Hi xBhpians,
I own a RE Machismo, 2004 model. And i am from Chennai. My bike was parked in the open for about 2 years and has been the victim of vandalism also.
The silencer tube has also rusted a lot. I'm planning to change them.
Also there are a few other troubles:
1. The bike runs peak throttle very quickly. So i have to change gears fast. Usually, by the time i reach 50 kmph, i'll be in the 5th gear. And if i push it above 65, it runs out of breath. It starts stalling. 45 kmph at 5th gear is its most comfortable speed.
2. The bike stalls if i go too slow (~20 kmph) or fast (~70 kmph). It also stalls when it is cold. But it gets hot quickly and starts stalling again.
3. There is an abrading sound from the engine, loud enough to be noticed over the thump of the exhaust by me. But not loud enough to be heard by others. One mechanic said it is common to Machishmo, though i dont believe him.
Could these problems be related to the carburettor? Once the spark plug contact was bent by somebody, though it was not broken. I bent it back to shape again. Could this be the cause? The problems did exist before that too, though whether it got worse after, i am not very sure.
Nobody has been able to solve these problems, though i have tried with 3 different mechanics. (Even with 'Jaf' in Pudupet)
Also, the bike leaks a LOT of oil. I know all REs leak oil, but this one leaks a lot. The oil drips on the exhaust tube and vapourises and the entire place is black because of burnt oil.
There are a host of other problems, which I am planning to fix, like wiring, battery, repainting and stuff. I dont want to give it to some useless mechanic, who will tell some stories and not do anything. So i was hoping that the users of RE bikes in xBhp could point me out to a good mechanic in Chennai who'll help me restore it to its former glory. My heart breaks to see it in such a condition. Please help me, i'm desperate.
