  • Missed my first service, PROBLEM!

    Hello everyone,
I bought my fz16 black on 23rd Feb 2011, as i bought from a dealer by paying 3k rs. on, i got the bike within one week. The company waiting was for 2 months, so had to go with this dealer. Now the problem is that i didnt knew that the bike has to be taken to service station after we take appointment, and also i got my no. 15-20 days after i got the bike. Now i got my service book and owner's manual after a month, if i am not wrong the bike has to be serviced within one month. I went to yamaha service centre(the one near inorbit mall, link road, malad). The girl there told me that since my bike isnt serviced within one month my warranty may get void(she sounded like my bike was already denied warranty), i tried explaining her why i got late but she wouldnt listen and asked me to contact my dealer about it.
I contacted my dealer, at first he refused to accept his mistake, then after my friend started using abit rough language, he accepted his mistake and told me to go to a tvs service centre!
I didnt wanted to go but went there, talked to the guy and he said he will see what he cn do, cause its already end of the month and i was for late for 6 days.
I dont know what i should do, am worried that my bike's warranty may get denied! The tvs guy said he wil report about the delivery problem and get my bike serived in tvs itself(chain lubing, oil change, clutch adjustment!)
What should i do, go for second service where the risk of my warranty being void is imminent or should i get my bike serived. Its 38 days old and has clocked 542 kms only.
Sorry for this long message but i really need help here.

1st thing as you said you got the bike on the same day by paying 3k extra, every where in my town I have been watching tons of Yamaha bikes were available in all dealers and even they are coated with dusts. It’s a thing when the dealer don’t have stock they explains like this that company is not producing etc etc. Ultimately they don’t have enough funds to bring new stock. So in future never pay extra for these, look for another dealers. Next thing before buying check carefully it’s the actual dealer or sub dealer. Many dub dealer claim themselves a dealer.

I don’t know accurately the servicing schedule of Yamaha or FZ but as per me 38 days old and has clocked 542 kms only is not excessive. Generally 1st servicing comes within 500km to 700km. So 1st check with the bike manual for the exact schedule. The method is by day or by Km, which came 1st.
Next if you want to stick with the warranty never get the servicing done from any other SC like tvs etc. As I mentioned about the Actual Dealer, all Authorize Dealers have their own service center and All Authorize Dealers have their own Dealer Code. While servicing the dealer stamped on each pages og the manual book service token and the stamp contains the Dealer Code. ONLY this stamp carry the full benefit of the Company’s Provided Warranty.

I think Mumbai is a big city, look for other Dealer/ASC a good ASC under a good Authorize Dealer are always helpful.

      Good luck!

        Hi,
your warranty won't be void bro so don't sweat it.... go ahead with the 2nd service and everything will be fine. Ideally the servicing of a bike is every 3000 kms or 170 days (check the manual properly for exact no. of days) so even if you have not completed the mentioned kms, you have to go for the servicing as the engine oil tends to degrade after a period of time.

2ndly, the warranty for the engine doesn't cover much as in all consumables like piston, piston rings or any internal moving parts are chargeable should anything go wrong with the bike. Yamaha engine builds are quite robust so as long as you maintain the "hawa paani" (i.e. regular maintainence as mentioned on your manual and replacing air filter, spark plugs etc. as per the prescribed kms) of the bike everything will be nice and hunky dory.

just remember; follow the bike bible (Manual) supplied along with your bike.

        cheers

Really suggest looking for another Yamaha showroom. And fast!
And about the warranty.. Go through the details given in the manual. I have a feeling you have to get all the free services done on time/kms to retain your warranty..

Hmm...quite interesting to hear that there's nothing to sweat on warranty. From what I've heard, companies are just waiting to drop warranty at a drop of hat. Anyway, in your case, you've to sugar coat the dealer. Whatever the case, pls keep us posted on the outcome. It will be a good learning to all of us.

Don't worry bro I was in the same league! Yeah!!! the difference is that the dealer here understood what I said and he told me not to worry he'll take care of everything.

First of all,its illegal for the dealer to charge you extra to the get Bike on time.
Second of all-TVS? WTF?you should be reporting this!

Now,pls do check your 1st Service's page on your manual.the time period for the service interval is mentioned there...i believe its more than a month/1000km

                    Don't worry at all.
                    Just find another dealer.
I myself have missed my bike's service once by 15 days & twice by 200 kms.
Nothing happens to bike & warranty unless you do something really nasty.

                    Well,
It is unfortunate to see you spending 3K to dealer & falling for his tactic of extracting money out of you.
Secondly, I don't understand FZ & TVS connection.

No matter what get your bike serviced by Yamaha service center only!
People are considerate, they will understand your problem for sure.

Bro, dont believe the crap said by these guys. The days and km are just a guideline and not a hard and fast rule. But as many have mentioned, get the servicing done by Authorized service center only. dont go to TVS for servicing a Yamaha!! Would you listen if someone asks you to take your Merc to a Maruti SVC? I'm sure there are other authorized SVC if the ones you deal with are stubborn.
If you are still having trouble, shoot a mail to some big shots of the company. The yammy threads should be able to help you..

                        Thanks for appproving the thread!
I have bought it from a dealer in borivali, the thing is that he isnt a authorised dealer, he sells other bikes too!
When i went to malad svc, the girl there was too lazy, and wasnt answering. She was saying that your warranty will be voided now, so you should talk to your dealer and get it serviced by him(i even told her name of the dealer and asked is it ok to service the bike through a dealer, to which she said its ok to do so).
I will be taking appointment for second service, and will try to reach svc on time. And also i think the no. of days thing shouldnt be there, since the no. of kms are important in my honest opinion!
Thanks guys for replying, will post as soon as i get appointment for my next service!

Hey guys i wanted to know the name of the chain lubricant(spray or anything else?)
And what other things should i keep in mind?
Have done first service, now have to cancel the appointment which is on 14th of this month, also since first service is done, what is the max speed i can ride my bike at without damaging the engine?
By the way i fought with the dealer, he called the yamaha manager and i talked to him about hte problem, he said i can go for the first service since it was delivery problem and also i had clocked just 530 kms.

hey guys i talked with the dealer, he talked to the manager of yamaha malad.Since the problem was caused by delivery error, the manager said i can give my bike for second service and nothing like warranty being denied will happen. Now can anyone tell me who is a god mechanic in malad(near inorbit mall) service centre.what's his name and what things i should take care of?
And also strangely my tires loose pressure within 2-3 days, maybe its due to hot weather(in which the tire pressure should increase?) or some problem is there. My rear wheel is out, not that bad though adn the handle has become abit stiff and heavy! Mumbai's road make it worst for rim bending thing, and am worried since have heard many stories about this wheel getting bent/broken! Has this been fixed in the 2010-2011 fz?

Hey guys i know i am posting some weird things!
But got my bike serviced 2nd time from yamaha, malad service centre. I am totally dissatisfied with it.First it took me 30 mins to get someone to get my job card done, i told him my problems but hte mechanic was too rude and seemed he didnt listen to me at all!!
I told that that i have a wheel run out problem and the steering is abit heavy, the goes on left side too.He said me mag wheels cant be repaired and i should go for new set of wheels!!
I told him that i have to refill air everyday(i suspected it to be sealant problem) to which he replied that i need to go for sealant which cost about 1200!! I know its way too much, since i can go for new front tyres by adding 600-800 extra! Now my questions are:-
                              1. Can anything be done to solve that wheel out problem and bike leaning on left side(probably due to bent fork)?
                              2. I do think that the quality of mag wheels is cheaper cause i saw 3-4 bikes(fz only) with wheels broken!! Can anything be done to solve this, like buying new set of mag wheels of better quality?
                              3. I have gone for normal oil this time, but when should i go for synthetic oil and also change spark plugs to iridium one? Does it have any positive effect on bike's performace?
I want to know about the wheel thing, cause i have to tilt my bike on right side again and again, and am scared to go at 60+ speed!
