Pulsar - 220 F Problem

Very interesting to see my Pulsar 220 is not the only one facing niggling issues. I bought mine on the last day of April 2011. Done 750km so far
I faced a lot of idling-speed issues initially, the bike stalling a lot at traffic lights. After a lot of fiddling with the rpm screw, have figured out the correct level now. Have to be a little careful about not dropping revs at the first traffic light near home, thats all. After sprinting away from the first light, the engine seems to warm up and settles into a very nice idling for the rest of the journey
As far as notchy gear shift is concerned, I had the opposite experience from @ankurjain. Although I never find the neutral
, but otherwise I did not have any complaints about gearshift till my first service a week back. After the service, the gearshift became unbelievably SMOOTH - butter/honey/anything-else-you-fancy
But only for a day.
Since then it has become slightly notchier by the day - more than what it was before servicing and I was considering when to goto pbk guys. But reading this forum makes me think I should give them a visit fairly soon
Also, now that I am done with my first servicing, I am starting to explore the upper reaches of the engine. And so far, it has been disappointing. The bike seems to a bit reluctant to gain speed rapidly. It was for this issue that I wanted to goto pbk - but since there are so many helpful members here, can you share if you also felt this 'reluctance' intially in your new P220 ? Did you mention this problem to the svc guys ? My bike sometimes doesn't start if its too cold .. I have to give race, but when a little warm environment it starts and autochoke also takes over. I have to visit svc again to get this issue resolved. Last time they did some fiddling with AFR screw to set the CO level. It was too much. I have this issue also. A little notchy gear shift. Which E-oil u have put in the bike ? Vaovoline or Bajaj Pulsar 10000 ? While I went for 1st svc one xbhpian suggested to put Bajaj's oil. ... Later it became a little nothier. Then I took it to a long drive and it rained. Then it became more nothier and the rear wheel is also making a little noise. It seems to come from chain.
Initially before 1st service also the gear notchier problem was there which they solved by tighting the clutch.
Get it checked in pbk once. They will fo it. I will also be visiting on Sunday.

rpm trouble
guys i said as before my p220f starting trouble is still exists and also other problem rpm when engine is cool idle rpm is around 1 or 1.2 but when engine gets heats up idle rpm level raises to 2 (that is after riding few distance if i leave my bike idle running this happens) i have send a mail to bajaj customer cell they have responded and asked few details i have mailed them now hope so i ll get this fixed any of u having this troubling give some solution

The idling will always be different after bike gets warmed up 1k-1.5k rpm is the idling to be set when the bike is warmed up not when it is cold.
The gear change becomes harder towards the end of the life of Engine oil or when the level is low, so check for the oil level and the viscosity of the oil.
Also for reserve you can just rely on the fuel cock when the bike stalls just turn it to reserve, no need to see the fuel gauge.Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

Pulsar 220F 2010 Model
Hey guys I have a Pulsar 220F. which i bought last yr in march. It has hardly been 18 months or so. I have been suffering few problems like vibrations. & hard gear shifts and gear slipping. I dont know are those the company defaults in pulsar or not. And can any one please suggest me a better engine oil for better gear shift?

. Though it can be minimized to some extent by applying double sided tapes to the areas where the fairing(plastic parts) makes contact with the Bike. Go to PBK and they will do it for you.
I have been through the same phase of harder gear shifts & slips after my first servicing itself. Try using Motul 5100...its the most recommended one. Costs you around 450/lt. You can also try Motul 300V, but it costs you somewhere around 850/lt (approx).

I got my bike serviced 15 days back and again changed the engine oil (used Motul 5100 this time also). But for some reason I didn't experienced that kind of smoothness this time. Also the gear shifts are too hard (going on since long time) not at all smooth. Also experiencing the problem of not able to bring bike in neutral it take a lot of time and effort to bring bike to neutral.
I explained the neutral problem to service center guys a lot of time and they say they have to open the gear box to find out the problem and I have to come on a weekday to do so.
1. Is it OK to let them open the gear box (I don't want to get into any other kind of problem)?
2. My another question is How frequently bike has to be tuned? Because as I remember in last 1.5 year (10500 Kms) I never got my bike tuned. I'm asking this because I'm also facing the problem of cranking the engine 2-3 times before auto choke kicks in else I have to open the throttle a little bit as soon as I crank the engine if I want to get the auto choke activated after the 1st crank.
But on the other side engine idling RPM range is perfectly fine when engine is cold started it is around 1200 RPM and after engine is hot it reaches not more than 1400 RPM, which is why I didn't want to play with carburetor settings.

Concerned about Pulsar 220F gear box!!
Hi friends, I too have pulsar 220F, purchased on this 28 Oct,2011 (Diwali), the bike has covered around approx 1000kms. Today I experienced the problem with my gear box. I experience this problem while shifting the gears from 1st-2nd-3rd. The gears has become hard now. It stucks, gets harder to shift between them. It also makes a noise now. Plz advise.

2. you don't need to tune frequently. if cold start problem is arises then frequently clean air filter & spark plug. if not solve clean entire carburetor with
main jet & pilot jet & re-tune. but your idling says your tuning is good.... don't worry everything will be OK
..
