  • HH HUNK Gear Shift problem

    Hi,

I own the new 2011 model of HH HUNK (with Rear Drum brake). I bought it on December 13, 2010.

I have completed 2 free services.

The ODO is in the zone of 3900 - 4000.

I have a problem with my gear shift from 4th to 5th...

At times, when I engage the gear from 4th to 5th, the gear slips back to the 4th as soon I accelerate after engaging the gear

Sometimes it locks in between 4th and 5th and my bike gives a jerk.. I have to pull the gear lever again to engage to 5th

I complained it on my 2 free services (Nagappa Motors, Chennai) but no resolution... Then after the 2nd service I took the bike to the SVC again and fought up with the service manager... He then worked on my bike for 2 days.. He told me that the gear was not locking properly and he has fixed it.. He even told me to come back it the issue crops up again... It was fine for about 500km and after that the issue started again.. When I went back to the SVC again, that guy has resigned and he was not there....

Some new guy has come up and he says that he will attend to this issue in the 3rd service..

I am sick of their service... Guys please mention some good HH SVC here in chennai... I stay at ayanavaram, Chennai...

Is it some major issue with gear box or clutch??? Do I have to go for a replacement???

    I need you help guys

I dont know any technical or mechanical reason for your problem but Try using any other engine oil (use recommended grade). Had same kinda problem with honda oil so shifted to power1 for a while and now i'm using yamalube.
Power1 was just average but yamalube is much better.

        gear shift problem

Does your bike gives false neutral problems?
I mean to say that do you feel that between 4th and 5th gear while shifting you have a feeling of neutral gear?
For gear shifting problems, please check for clutch adjustment
If your clutch is fine then there may be the problem with the connector pin which connects the gear and the lever.(1 hour job and 100 rupees max to correct this problem)
Since the bike is in warranty, please tell your HH ASC about this problem.

I too faced this type of problem with my Victor GLX 125 when it was in warranty.
The technicians at TVS ASC tested my bike and said that it is quite normal and only thing what I was told to do was "shifting gears with extra power"
I tried out that and it worked fine but this was not the solution because I was just overcoming the problem but the problem was still persisting.
Finally I approached one good mechanic in Pune named Mr Shirish Joshi and on the same day he solved my problem.I handed him my bike in morning, went to office and collected my bike in evening from him.

According to that mechanic, the connector pin which connects the gear shifting lever with your gearbox was slipped and he brought that slipped pin to its right position. That was all and from then I have ran my bike till 80000 kms and still I dont face that problem.Gear shifting is smooth and no false neutrals and no application of power while shifting gears.
Max cost I spent was 100 rupees for that work.

Maybe you will have to spend in that range/ if connector pin has gone then a replace with a new connector pin.But it will not cost you much

I think that this solution must work with your bike.
I know that these Authorized Service center guys will overlook this problem. If you were in Pune than I would have recomended Mr Joshi .Hence please look for any best and Honest(most imp) mechanic in your city.

Normally this kind of problem arises if the gear shifter drum is not set properly..In some bikes there is an adjuster on the crank case wqhich can be adjusted to correct it, and in come bikes it is not there..Regarding the Hunk I have no idea...so cannot give specific remedy...If the Hunk has this adjustment, which the A.S.S. or knowledgeable mech will know, then it is an easy job...

I feel that engine oil cannot be a cause for my problem... Currently I am running with the HH oil...

No... I do not have false neutral issues... I think the guy who fixed my issue initially also did the same... He was telling like the gear was not locking in the lever properly so he cleaned it and re fitted it again... But I am not sure whether he mentioned the part which u r saying....

@bubbly: may be I'm wrong about engine oil, was just sharing my experience..
But do check what other members say regarding connecting pin and everything.
