  • P200 Coil Replacement & Self Start Switch assembly Replacement

Guys I own a P200 June 2008 model. Couple of days back when i tried to start it it kinda gave me a purr sound and then it started. I took it to my local mechanic who switched off and tried to start it and my bike did not start so he used 2 wires at the starter relay to start it and said the starter relay has to be replaced so I took the bike to the spare parts shop to procure the spare and in the meantime using the same 2 wire's to start it. But suddenly my horn and indicators stopped working. And now after the replacement of the self start relay, horn, indicators and self start aren't working and my mechanic after checking the wiring says I have shorted the electricals and some coil + self motor switch assembly might need to be changed and would cost me around 2k.

Experts pls chip in with your comments on how I should go with this issue.

i don't think it can be happened because sorting wires on starter relay won't effect on other parts , i also had same problem so in meantime i used to start by sort circuit it and bike started , may be you sorted some other wires. well if you burnt your self motor then it costs much. please tell me the price if you need to buy it.
check ampere on your battery, it should be near about what it has written on it. (don't remember).

Thanx pal. I got the problem sorted out in fact it was the BCU that had failed and I bought it for Rs.1400 (It was the last piece he had) It had its original part number scribbled and re written (I assume P200 shares the same BCU with other pulsar's and hence this gimmick from BAJAJ) The cover says it's for PULSAR UG3.

The B.A.S.C guys said that if we try shorting the wires to start, the BCU will deactivate the self start.
