  • Bike doesn't want to turn in to corners.

    Hello everyone,

Lately my Gladiator RS isn't willing to turn quickly into corners; i really have to push and pull for her to countersteer, while I remember that a push on the inside bar was sufficient when she was new.
Moreover, when I do push and pull, the bike feels weird and disconnected under me, as if the bike's parts are not rigidly connected to each other. THe steering also wobbles a bit when I let go off the bars at 70+ kmph.

A couple of pune xbhpians suggested me to ask a mechanic to inspect the steering head bearings, which I did get checked by 2 mechanics, but they claim there is nothing wrong with it.

Can you give me a list of things that might be wrong with the bike ?

    Thanks !

The rear tyre is a MRF Q series zapper in excellent shape ; i haven't checked the condition of the front stock tyre yet.

These problems sorta started when I had a huge accident when cornering.
Basically, what I am hoping is a list of checks that I can ask the lazy SVC people to perform

Cone set, front fork misalignment, rim run out disk condition tyre condition are some of the things you should start looking at.

The coneset is the first thing to be checked. It would cost you less than 300 Rs. even if you replace the bearings and bearing holders.

The disconnected feeling and the wobbling are because of coneset or alignment problems..

About the unwillingness to get into turns - if your tires are very old, upwards of 15000kms, they'll have a squarish look when viewed from the front/back.. this is the cause of reluctance to get into turns.. new tires are the answer..unless i'm missing out something..

                  Thanks everyone for the help.

I got the cone-set checked from my local mechanic, and he commented that the the front-tee was jammed or something, that the cone-set was not greased. He charged me 100Rs for the greasing . He also said the front rim and forks are fine.

I will take a ride to Lavasa this Saturday and see the difference !
