  • Digital tachometer on RX100

Want to install the speedo unit of a FZ on my RX100.
    If possible, how?

it will be very difficult, and for what benifit? even you somehow do it, tachometer will be difficult to get working, since, i think, the tachometer does not measure the engine speed directly, instead it measures number of firing pulses send to spark plug to measure the enginre rpm.

If u fit the FZ digital tacho, it will read half the speed what your engine rpm would be. ( remember its configured for a 4 stroke, there is one spark every two cycles, and in a two stroke there is one spark every cycle ). So if your actual rpm was 4000, ( thats 4000 sparks per minute in a 2ST ) it would read 2000 rpm.

You will either have to make a multiplier circuit or something, or buy a dedicated 2 stroke rpm meter online.

My offerings to the gods of speed -

        - KTM Duke 200
        - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

It would actually read double - its expecting a spark every 2 cycle, while its getting one for each cycle.

What is needed is a ckt to half the frequency.
