  • Rains Killed My Bike - Help Me

On 7th July 2011, Mumbai was going through a lot of water logging because of continuous rains. I was out driving my bike and the road was water logged and the level was above by waist. I had driven in such conditions once before and I knew we should drive slowly without changing the gear and leaving the throttle. But in that level of water a BEST Bus came raging from the other side the it created two huge waves that knocked me down twice along with the bike. I fell down in water and luckily I managed to pick the bike both the times but it had stopped. Kick Jammed, not self starting. People said engine is froze because of the water that went inside it. They said I have to take it to SVC ASAP. Is there any other way? Will they have to disassemble the engine? This is the first major problem in my bike ever since I bought it in 2009.

    Help Me Guys, Please.

Bike - Hero Honda Hunk Limited Edition
    Make - March 2009

buddy, ever saw a threesome or foursome... that is exactly what has happened with your bike. water has entered into engine parts from all possible holes.

on a serious note, take it to an ASS immediately.

I know, rains in Mumbai damage the vehicles (especially bikes) very badly...

I rarely use my bike during rains which has led to the battery getting discharged...

So either way, rains will kill your bike in Mumbai

          You engine has seized!

Truck your bike to a SVC centre, there is no other way out now!

          Feel bad for you.

If water has entered the combustion chamber through the silencer, then it means your engine has some of its components broken and not seized.Water doesn't get compressed like air.Engine has to be opened up for sure.

After the bike got turned off in water did you tried to start it again by self start or kick?? If yes then its confirmed that the water has reached the internals & engine has to be opened up.
NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

I was running away from the fact that the engine has to be opened. But no other choice. I cant use my CBR every now and then

Will have to literally drag it to the SVC.

                Thanks for the feedback guys

                  @hh Hunk

This even happened to me.My building had bcum an island on that very same day.No way out.Bike was drowned.Tried to kick start it didnt Then i called the HH service guys they examined and first thing they did was check oil. They opened the dipstick and saw all water inside.Pushed it to the service center and they did the needfull.Drained all water and forced compressed air to remove trapped water wherever possible.Filled in new oil and started to kick till death. Finally it came alive but the ride was really bad for a month. It was very rough and thakela types. It took almost 2-3months to get back to normal. But im thanking my stars that they didnt had to open up the engine

I called up the SVC, they have shifted to a new place. Luckily I got their SMS and called up on that number as the other landline was not functional. Their mechanic will come tomorrow morning with a pickup tempo and take the bike with him

Check for Engine oil flusher (oil), which may help draining down the left over water, its about 150 bucks, but worth it, I use it when I switch between Synthetic and other grade oils.
