  • Superbikes and security

    Guys,
Need some help here. I am *this* close to pulling the trigger on a 2011 Hayabusa (black & red). Wifey thinks that this is going to get unnecessary attention from anti-social elements in the neighborhood. She is (and justly so) concerned about how it might impact the rest of the family.

More info - I live in Vijayanagar, Bangalore in an independent house. Have a typical one-car garage, the contents of which are quite visible to the street. There are locked steel gates but I could close them up partly with welded steel plates to reduce visibility inside.

Anyway, what do you think I could do to enhance / maintain current levels of security and more importantly, are we making too much about it?

It's important to me that my wife is fully bought into this venture of mine. A happy wife (and safe family) makes things so much better.

Daxim, the one and only option you have is just CAGE your Busa. Make a cage similar to the one Zoo people transport animals in trucks, with double size of the busa (width) and at-least 6 feet tall. park the busa in it & lock it up

        Superbikes and security

I am not too concerned about the bike itself. It is more to do with the overall security of the household itself.

Having said that, I appreciate the humor.

a cage as shown above in pic, is ...may be going too far.

if your garage has a full height door, then simply locking it up is the best. then your only worry will be when it is not parked in home...like in office or outside some hotel. for that you can install a bike security system.

if you are overall worried about your home security, you can install a home security system.

I think daxim'jee is apprehensive about the sociological impact of his bike purchase than the bike's security itself . That is , whether this sudden display of wealth and a powerful machine in his garage would make him and his family more conspicuous in the society .... and thereby (acting as a bait) attract some burglars unkind attention on the household and it's members as a whole . Is it ?

As a biker , NO ! , seriously stop worrying about it , they may infact feel pity for you after they learn ki mileage kitni deti hai . I'm sure that a few friends will even ask you why you didn't just buy another car instead . The steel sheet covers on the gates is a good idea though , even without a hayabusa .

@Daxim : a 15L sbk will draw much more attention than a 30L car. Is your neighbourhood filled with anti social elements? or is it a concern in general ?

^ it's not "filled" with such people. Its quite a respectable neighborhood. I'm just trying to understand any/all risks.

                      Thanks for your views though.

First thing is not to tell any one the real price of the bike . If any one asks , relatives ,neighbours , the price is 1.5 lakhs only ! and its imported .100% ppl will never bother to cross check the real price. Or don't ever tell its a real bike , its modified fazer or pulsar for everyone.

                        PS:rename it to pulsar 1300R .

Then it should not be a problem. Just try not to tell anyone that it costed more than 5.
