List of requirements -

- Letter of intent, availability of resources and adequate facilities to convince the company/brand to give you a dealership.
- Deposit money with the company.
- Purchase inventory ( in case of dealership ), atleast one vehicle in each color of each model of the company. Obviously will vary as per the demand.
- Adequate space ( as per company requirements ).
- Establish a service section, get good mechanics, supervisor.
- BUy inventory for store ( spare parts etc ).
- Tools, Work benches, lifts etc.
- Training for mechanics ( to be paid to company by dealer )
- Sales team,
- Paperwork, insurance agents on your payroll etc.
- Do the interiors of the place etc.


I did an extensive study for a dealership in NCR for myself. Thankfully i dint get into and the person who did, bombed, as that was what it seemed, and thats why i backed out.

JD, I think he has asked for an independent automobile workshop and not a franchisee kind of workshop or dealership.

The cost of starting an independent auto workshop completely depends on what you want.
You could just have a two wheeler workshop in a small shop or a fully fledged car workshop with all kinds of tools like two post lifts and pneumatic tools. Such a workshop to my knowledge would cost around 5 lakhs or above excluding land/shop/personnel costs.

you want to open a service center of a particular brand, or in general.

what i suggest is that you first open a repair shop/general service center, so that your initial investment will be less, find some good mechanics and hire them. apart from salary, give them some commission money for customers they bring in, this is very important, because most good mechanics already have fixed customers, and most mechanics generally divert customers from service center to their own shop/home to work on sundays. giving them commission will erase that problem.

this way your initial investment will be less. only some essential tools.

once the place is setup and running, then after one year you can expand it to a full fledged authorized service center.

Opening a basic two-wheeler worskshop.

I would love to keep it straight. Im a graduate in engg. and screw the job and related areas and stuff i hate that.
I dont know if its a spiritual revolution in me or what but lately ive been wishing to open a motorcycle/two-wheeler service-station/workshop now.
Its would be a great help if you could help me out with few tricks of the trade and few insiders if you wish regarding this venture i wish to set on.

Bike Modifications

I'm planning to set up a Bike Modification & Accessory Store in Delhi
I know we have so many of them but we always have a problem of getting the genuine product & fair Advise.
Also we have many niggling Problems in the Bikes which are not getting rectified by the Service centers.

Please advise me on this.
Initially I'm planning to do set it for 2 days a week during my weekly offs.
If the response is good I'll start a full fledged work shop which does Modifications, Sells Accessories & handles tricky repairs.
Modifications include Performance & Cosmetic.
how much cost, I need to invest & how much area I required?
