Help me plan Shivtharghal trip

Me and a friend together with our wives are planning to take Shivthar ghal trip sometime in Nov. I need help on the planning. We'll be leaving from Pune. How far is Shivthar ghal? I read on net that there is a fort 'Kavlya' nearby. Is it doable? Is one day trip ok, or should we plan for a 2 day trip?

Awaiting experienced advice.
