  • P180UG4 stolen from Delhi. Need help with formalities.

My 10-month old Pulsar 180UG4 (black) has been stolen early this morning from the parking in front of my Lajpat Nagar residence in New Delhi. The mental and monetary devastation aside, I am a bit clueless about the prospects of recovery from this. Whether the cops can recover the bike is a matter of luck, but I wanted some inputs on how to deal with the insurance aspect? What is the process?
I have lodged an FIR. I will be going to the Insurance agency (New India Insurance) on Monday, or tomorrow if it is open.
Now from what I know, the cops will provide a case closure after which the insurer will pay me out. Any idea how long that usually is? Also, the total insured value on my insurance paper reads 61,500. Will I be getting the full amount or would there be some deductions? Also, any other suggestions?

@VD17: That might take anywhere from a month to 3-4 months (if your bike is not recovered). The Insurance companies put a heck of a pressure on the COPS for recovering the bike and thus you must be in contact with both the cops and insurance guy. Maintain some friendly relations with cops and they will get away with a frequent case closure and you will finally get the insured sum of the bike.

Hoping you get your bike back instead.

Well, I got the FIR copy on Sunday morning (they made the entry on Sunday night 12:15AM). Since the bike was stolen on a weekend, there was no way I could intimate the insurance people. But still I covered my bases and made a request online. Went to the office today, filled up the forms and all. Surveyor comes day after tomorrow. Let's see what all he says.
Meanwhile, everyone at work was like 'why didn't you talk to them sternly since you're from the press'. I am going to speak to our chief reporter today and see if he knows someone who can make a few calls. From what I can tell, chances of a recovery look particularly bleak since mine is a black Pulsar.
