  • Apache RTR loosing it's Power and a little oil in the engine head Area.

    Hi all,

Here is the present Stats of my Apache RTR 160. Please read through and possibly answer solutions for the problems I am facing.

    Model: Apache RTR 160
Year & Month of Purchase: 2008 FEB
KM's done till today: 52,500 KM
Service History: All the Initial Services till 30000 Km's then service at authorized service center every 3000-3500 Km's with Oil change.
[Didn't even miss a single One]
Body: 8/10 [Well, I love my Bike]
Mileage: 35-40 Kmpl in City and 40-42 on Highway.
Riding Habits: Initial 1st gear pickup till 6-7K and Then Gear changes around 5K mark.
    Breakdowns: None till date.

    Problem:
    1. Recently feeling a little underpowered with the performance of my vehicle. May be because it has clocked so many KM's.
    2. For initial pickup it seems the engine is struggling too much for it.
    3. When it was new the bike responded evenly at 60/80/90 But now a Days get a sluggish feedback around 80+
    4. There seems to be a layer of oil near the head, which bothers me now.
    5. Gear shifts are Not so sharp as they used to be.

    Question:
    1. What can I do with the bike so as to get that performance back?
    2. Is the Engine block is asking for some work?
    3. Time to Sell and get a new Machine....?

I am planning to push through with the Bike for a year more before a Change, So a Major Overhaul now will get me the much awaited performance and The sell value in market.

    All Suggestions awaited.

if there is a oil leak around the head then it could be a spoilt gasket

as you say your bike has run 50k+ kms.....i think a complete service with decarboning the engine should make it feel better
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson
