hi all! i am facing a problem with the pulsar lately.the fuel cap on the tank has a slight opening so whenever it rains water seeps inside. can i do something other than replace the cap? another problem is that whenever i rev harder, the fuel flow stops for a while and the engine stops. is this due to overflow of fuel or something else? since you have a nice experience with the pulsar i thought may be you could help me. didnt want to start a thread for such a problem.my side stand is a bit tilted.is the overflow due to this. these days i switch off the fuel tap whenever i park it somewhere. the problem is gone for a while.but is there a permanent solution to this. please help!

The problem starts with the Fuel cap on the tank
Since it has slight opening as u said - air gets inside the fuel Tank - and rain water enters easily - same as the dust.............
A permenant solution is to change the Cap lock
A temperory solution is to have a closed Tank bag
Since the air intakes into your fuel tank easily - when you open the throttle suddenly the air blogs the fuel pipe and so lack of fuel your engine stops..........
Side stand tilted is not a big deal unless you find some solution for the opening in the fuel tank...........Comment

a tank bag all the time wont be that feasible i guess.do you think the leather covers we get for the tank will do the job too?i have seen some real good ones on pulsars here. and do you know how much those fuel caps cost? the other problem is i will have to use different keys for the ignition and the tank lock or else change the whole ignition fuel cap setup.that wont be a good idea right?Comment

ok, u dont need to go for Leather covers for tank. Coz, they ruin the beauty of Pulsar tanks!
About the problem, go for the new tank cap lock and yes, you have to go for complete locking assembly for the pulsar. Dont worry that cost a bomb. But that'd be the only good thing you can go for. The whole locking set will cost you around 800 bucks.Comment

as for the prob....there is a rubber gasket on the tank cap...and it mostly can be changed...that should slove your problem...and the tank cap opens with almost any keyComment

@Richard:i study at national institute of technology(VNIT) nagpur. i am a final yr electrical engg student here. what rubber gasket are you talking about?can you please elaborate. i live in the college hostel at bajajnagar.where do you?
@gold_heart007: if the whole assembly is only 800 bucks, i don't mind going for it. but are you sure the original bajaj assembly costs that much or is it some duplicate one which we can find anywhere? anyways, i will ask the bajaj service centre guys this weekend. please answer if you are sure it is originalComment

the rubber gasket/ring is the one that seals between the tank and the cap...it could have gotten hard in your bike....
do you get a strong petrol smell from the tank cap ???Comment
