then you can definately wait. But dont rip your bike (always below 6k rpm) and always keep 2 spark plugs and some engine oil with you on long trips.

but be carefull, mix all ingredients at recommended ratios. Perform this experiment it at your own risk.Originally posted by art View Postthnx buddy for your help!

hi guys!
Yesterday I got the tappets' setting done once more time but this time with some other mechanic. The bike is now starting using the kick lever. Sometimes in 1 and some time in 3-4 kicks. The engine sound has turned more smooth. Though the result is satisfactory but it is too early to get conclusion. Will have to wait some more days......
I m afraid of getting my engine opened at my town's SC as once they had ruined my friends 1 yr old pulsar. The bike sounds terrible...and I am yet to find a good mechanic for pulsar out here. If the problem persists I will head towards Ranchi or maybe Dhanbad.
On the compression front I am going to make my own gauge...any help for this

OT: where are you located??Originally posted by art View PostIf the problem persists I will head towards Ranchi or maybe Dhanbad.
If Your problem is solved or near solved then dont fiddle with the engine (specially with the inexperienced/unknown mechanics).

myself from hazaribagh..
well problem of kickstarting is solved...but new problem arose....the engine sound has increased relatively.....also I have to engage more throttle to attain a given speed and RPM than previously.....at high RPM there is a stain of just visible (now)black smoke (during redlining).....found some oil in the thread of left plug...Last edited by art; 10-04-2011, 06:16 PM.

^^Black smoke is coz of too rich AFR or incomplete combustion. And too rich conditions can reduce pick up too (happened with me)..
So try getting your airfilter cleaned if problem stays try carb tuning.
And go to the same mechanic & tell him the problem, as he knows what he did the last time.

I was also thinking of rich AFR, so cleaned the filter but in vain....well thinking of cab tuning.....the mechanic actually loosened the tappets..Originally posted by Honda_CBF View Post^^Black smoke is coz of too rich AFR or incomplete combustion. thanks a lot bro for your guidence and help...will report after tuning

tuned the carb. today....black smoke gone (even after redlining for couple of minutes) and pickup regained though a bit sluggish till 2k RPM but after that it shoots and starts in first kick....bike rocked on the NH-33......
I was scared to open the engine head, if the problem resurfaces again then valve change with grinding on the bill...really happy after sorting out the problem.
lesson learnt...one's most trusted mechanic can also take one for a ride. If I d gone according to the SC, then I would have ended in replacing piston, bore etc...going through threads and posts of xbhp, member's guidance really helped to sort out the problem
thanks everybody for their contribution

Re: kick start problem
I have yahama RXZ model 1997. I just got it overhauled. Mechanic says he has bored the cylinder head and fitted new piston (0.25). I am facing few problems and i think he hasnt worked on the bike properly
1. It takes 30-50 kick to start, sometimes more than that.
2. In 4th gear the bike is not picking up speed. it runs very heavy too. mechanic says the bike will have speed after it has been driven 500-1000 km. is it common after overhauling the engine?
can anyone tell me the solution to these problem and let me know mechanic is not fooling me.Last edited by Rabbu188; 07-25-2018, 04:31 PM.
