  • help needed in deciding upon used RX135

Hi Xbhpians, I am currently working in Chennai and I was looking for a used bike in a price segment of upto 20K. I came across a used RX135 4-speed 1999 model Single owner bike. I went to meet the owner, and had a test ride of bike. He was quoting the price as Rs.22k, but after a long chit-chat i was able to convince him and pulled him down to 19K. The deal is almost in the final stage, but as I am not so aware of current market rate of RX in chennai (in my city I can get a good condition 5-speed rx in less than 15K), i am a little skeptic about the price. So i want ur opinion about the bike, about if it is worth the money.
The bike description goes like this. The engine is in very good condition, it is responsive and maintained(though not very well-maintained) and was roaring as a typical yamaha. However the owner was not very keen of servicing it, seeing the condition I could very well guess that it's not been serviced from a long time(may b an year). I think an overall thorough servicing is enough for the engine. The electrical was all a big mess(possibly due to repairing at not so good local mechs), so they need to b done fresh. Again, the tank is rusty from inside, and again places like the bottom of tank(on the outer side), the frame and some other places have caught rust on it. The locks need to b changed, the handle grips, footpegs and mayb the console meter also. But my biggest concern is the paint, as on top of the fuel tank there are area's where literally no paint is left. So a complete paint job needs to be done.
I m giving it the second thought, because I dont know how long i m going to stay in Chennai. It can be two months or an year(but not more than an year for sure), so I dont want to invest more than 20K. And please tell me if I brought the bike at this price, how much money i will need to correct all the above things. Thanx.

First question - Why do you want Rx? Why not some 4joke?

@aargee: i like rx series bikes, so i was trying to get one. Whatever, that deal got cancelled as that bike owner got some one else paying more. I got a good deal, its p150 2006 model, pretty decent condition @ 22K, so I m going for it. thanx a lot.

@jd666: hey, the problem is, if i brought it from my home town, then i will need to transport it to chennai and then do all the RTO formalities, that i don't want to get into. For the same reason I am not bringing my P220 here in chennai.

@mods: Plz close the thread as this questions(seeking opinions) are irrelevant now.
