by NGK- if you mean NGK irridium-- you won't get any significant performance increase.

K&N filter will give performance increase only after rejetting.

u can go for a knn air filter and rejetting

but you wont really be getting any major performance increase by this.....it will e more of a psychological thing.......

if u really want a performance increase go for a good port and polish job with a bigger engine bore and maybe a freeflow exhaust....

BUDDY, SELL OFF YOUR BIKE AND GET A CBR 250 IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR POWER

below is the list of mods that i have done on my 2007 hunk. its done 35000 kms with the below mods:
1) K&N r1100
2) pulser 200 carb with custom porting job and 140 size jets.
3) compression increased by machining the block by 0.5 mm (dont know the exct value of the compresion ratio.
4) exhaust port polishing.
5) oil cooler - from pulser 200

I did not measure the power I was getting but in one drag with my friend's p180, i won by nearly 3 bikes length.

after running the bike with the above mods, following were the after effects:-


1) piston rings had to be changed after 10000 kms
2) intake and exhaust valves busted after 15000 kms
3) spark plug melted and head casing replaced due to over heating of engine
4) block piston is nearly busted and is due for replacement shortly.
5) engine oil is near the empty level after every 2000 kms. i need to top up after every 500 kms to ensure i am not running the engine without oil.

This is when i take outmost care of the bike, i dont stunt at all. the bike is used only for touring purposes.

its up to you weather you want to modify the bike or not...
btw, if you are wondering, I have gone back to the stock condition again since most of the above mods did not last long without problems.


PS: i did not sell my bike since it is my frst bike and i will never ever sell it off. hence If i want the bike forever, It has to be in stock form. any modifications that you will go for wont last for long unless you are spending sleepless nights one every detail of your mod. I have burnt my hands on this one hence recomend you not to do the same mistake

@rockers: its my first bike too... but i cant really buy a new one yet... its just a year old...
and i really want a little power increase... it crossed my mind too to buy a new cbr250r but my hunk is still young... thats why i was looking at mods instead of a new cbr250r...

Completely false,even after K&N and correct jet sizes ,you may get an increase of 0.3-0.5hp. and iridium wont increase power,it increase mileage @ high speed riding conditions and decreases mileage in city riding.

Actually, these honda engines are not well suited for this kinda performance upgrades. Its best to keep them in stock to extract maximum performance.('ROCKRZ' reply proves this.) Engines like those of apache rtr's are more suited for these performance mods. I mean, even if you go for these mods, there might be some increment in performance but the overall gains won't be much & on top of that you would be losing the reliability for which honda engines are well known.

you can use the pirelli scorpion - its actually an semi offroad tyre for sbk. you wil not get the rear tyre of the size that fits to the hunk. ask for the front type of 110/90 - 18" and use it as the rear tyre...

advantages? since its a front tyre, its softer compound than normal semi offroad types. the tyre has phenomenal grip. the life is short though... mine lasted only for 15000 kms but still has a lot of grip.

you can also use michelin sirac. one of the best compromises in tyre life and grip
