  • Black residue in Bore/End of Silencer

    Hi all,
A week back i purchased a 1998 Bullet-350 Deluxe Model.. I see a black oily residue in my Bore area and in end of my silencer .

    1.I have not refilled oil
2.The decomp lever is not working instead I adjust using the kicker and start my bullet
A good friend of mine says the piston and bore heads are need to be replaced
I am very much worried about this residue
I am planning to give a nice wash to my bullet and check clearly in which areas the residues are coming from ..
    Kindly advice ..
    Thanks !!

replacement of piston & piston rings, etc are normal things. They needs to be replaced when worn out. But bore head dont wear out easily, it only needs replacement in case of damage.
Btw, bullets tend to get leaky. Do clean it & check for leaks & damages.. May be you only need to change some oil seals..

        @ vmani007:

Oil residue in the bore area is for the piston rings.. it might be worn out.

"The decomp lever is not working instead I adjust using the kicker and start my bullet"

Am not familiar with bullets... so in a common point of view may i say..
it can be a part fault like may be the decompressor lever arrangement.

Do you face any loss in compression?
you can know compression loss when you are using the kicker instead to achieve the right stroke..

If there is a loss in compression... your friend would be right when he said about the piston and head.. well in that case you should be able to spot a different noise

        Just my thought..
Take it to a good bullet mechanic or an svc.

My mechanic says "If the piston rings are worn out you will get white smoke form exhaust !" but I don`t see any white smoke

De-compressor cable may be worn out . How I start my bullet is :
            1. Ignition->on
            2. Check the AMP reading
2.1 If the AMP meter is in middle then I give a nice strong kick in the kicker and my bullet roars !
2.2 If the AMP meter is in left I slowly kick the kicker till its reaches its end and the AMP meter adjusts itself to the middle.
This week end I am planning to replace the decomp cable and check with decomp lever assembly !

And I experience this too :
When I am in my top gear and open my bulls throttle(to speed up my bull) i experience continuous HICCUPS and when I reduce the speed the hiccups vanish !

What I am trying to do is :
            1.Install a new battery (the present 1 is worn out I guess ! )
2.Clean Air filter/Carburetor and check the ride if its the same then I will replace with new 1`s !
            3. Tighten the Rubber Manifolding in between the air filter and Carburetor(replace with a new 1 if this fails too )

I will get back with the results by next week end ! (I am off to mangalore )

Thanks Bro ! Any Idea about the costs of the piston ?
and I don't see any white smoke coming out of my exhaust either !
I gave a nice water wash and I don`t see any oil presence near the bore area ! ! thanks for the tip !

^^ Glad to know that there's no leak, smoke, and whatsoever..
Sorry, got no idea about the piston cost may be others can help. Btw, why you're asking?

                    Fixed it

                    Hi All,

                    What my mechanic did was
1.Installed new wiring kit to my Bullet .
                    2.Serviced my Carburetor
3.Changed the outside rubber manifold that connects air filter with Carburetor
4.Fixed the De-compressor lever and its working

Next what I am planning to do is
I have a brand new Exide Backer Battery 12V15A which I am gonna try fixing it to my bike
