  • pulsar ug3 suspension issues

    hi all,
I have a pulsar ug3, oct 2006 model. i have done about 36k on the bike with in city, highway and a little off roading . The setup was fine until i discovered that the height of the rear shocks has dropped down ( I figured that out because the focus of the headlamp has moved forward without any alteration to the adjuster over the last two or so years). i am using the shock adjuster at the setting level of 4, still found the height not enough. whenever i go over the bump, there is scratching sound from the back. guys can we regain the height of the shocks by any means? like re-cambering the leafs!

PS: i would like some oem options. not in favor of jugaad as it comes along with some unreliability factors!

well, the obvious option is to replace. also check out, in earlier shock absorbers it was possible to repair them by inserting big washers at the end of spring. ask your mechanic if it is possible to do so.

      also try refilling with air.

thanks friends for your suggestions. i will go to the ASS to check for nitrogen pressure. but i am skeptical that it would increase the height of the bike. lets hope for the best

yes i was talking about nitrogen, but while refilling, you fill with air since air is 70-80% nitrogen, and nitrogen is not available at service centers for refilling. they generally have a hand pump to pump in air.

Refilling the shock absorbers was useless for my bike. The rear suspension used to bottom out and hit hard. This led to wearing of wheel bearings and swing arm bushes. Once the swingarm and the wheel develops play it'll start wearing the sprocket faster.

So get the rear suspension replaced. It costs just 1580 for black and 1500 for gray

I am also a bit skeptical about the quality of job at the probiking ASS. can you please share the cost of refilling

i rode HH hunk for about 70 kms last day. Man! smoooooooooooth suspension. I just wish bajaj could have put such a kind of setup in pulsar also. this would have made the bike a good tourer comparatively.
Can we put hunk shocks in pulsar?

                regards

Well i ride a 220f and feel the rear suspensions are very hard. Whereas i find my brother's Karizma's suspensions (without that air and all) very smooth. If some one has tried changing the suspensions please share.

You cannot regain the height of shocks. Maybe due to off-roading it has reached the end of it's life.
