  • HH ZMR Fuel Tank Issue

    Hey Guys,

    I've owned a ZMR since January this year and its been used sparingly because of the monsoons and while it not being ridden its being kept covered.

    I feel very disappointed in HH for the degraded quality in a premium bike worth well over 1 lakh. So here is my problem hopefully you guys can suggest something.

    Just before the onset of the monsoons, when i was buying fuel i notices that the outer rim of the fuel tank had water accumulation(isn't it supposed to drain away?) my immediate reaction was that this is the result of perhaps water being splashed during washing, dried it off and ignored it (sadly).

    Now i happened to fill her up again a some days ago and noticed that the outer rim again had water accumulation and that the fuel filler cap was rusted from the insides on the part that sits on the outer edge of the fuel tank opening.

    My grievance is;
    *isnt the fuel filler cap supposed to be absolutely water proof and not allow water accumulation?

    *my erratic work schedule is not allowing me to make a trip to the rather lame HH service centre in Mahim, Mumbai, so i was wondering that when i do get to go should i ask for the filler cap totally replaced as the bike is well within warranty.

    *some of the screws are also gathering hints of rust (within the first 7-8 months!!!) what course of action should i take (if any) as im rather annoyed at this. Having faced these quality niggles with my CBZ before this (crank developed a crack within warranty period) im very dejected.

    So, what do you guys suggest could be the remedy for this and how do i prevent this from happening again, as i dont trust HH to pay heed anyways (their services seem like a mere formality). What could be the cause of this water accumulation. I've noticed there is a hole in the outer rim of the tank opening, which im assuming is supposed to address the issue of overflow of fuel and/or water, if it is what i think it is then its obviously not functioning. im also afraid that the rust might find its way into the tank and ruin the Fi.

    Suggestions?

      There is a hole on the rim to drain the water entering there,Guess its blocked ,blow air and remove the block.

        @ s_c_u_d the water drain pipe attached to the tank is got blocked as in most of ZMR , due to which the water entering in tank doesn't get drained out & remained there , if there is excess water then it will surely enter in fuel tank creating problem for fuel pump. If water remains on that rim for more days then it starts corrosion & affecting the colour of tank . I have faced the similar problem , got the excess pipe cutted out & replaced tank.
        The lid is not water resistance as they have provided the water drain whole inside tank. & the same comes in other bikes also.
