  • Honda unicorn stalling issues at low RPMs

    Hi All,

I am having issues with my uni(Aug-2008-40k km done)The bike stalls when below 3.5k rpm. This does not happen often..

If iam maintaining the correct RPM (not going above 4.5k/50km or so..)

iam not having any issues but then if the needle touches 80 bove and rides continuosly then the issue starts..Also this is more prevailant in wet conditions..Took her to a few mechs tried cleaning carbs changing filters etc..but no help...

Again took to the dealer-Decarbonized-cleaned the head..and it ran fine for about 3000 km and now again since the rains started issue begain. No one i showed the bike is able to isolate the issue..Please help....

          1. Clean the fuel tank breather hole + fuel cap
          2. Check & replace CDI if required

Main culprit should be with #1 & do not take it lightly

The whole tank is changed..I had some scracthes and it did'nt look good..so claimed it in insurance

As for CDI unit i had it replaced with an alternate unit from my friend..Same issue..

Meanwhile today i had one more issue..while i was starting from office,The bike turned off since i forgot to engage the choke..After that when i tried to start..the kicker was on a free flow for abt 4-5 minutes. This is the first time iam getting such an experience...Then i engaged the choke and it started fine..After that i did'nt have the that big issues till home...

Question is - did you change the fuel cap?

I have checked for the fuel cap in the cochin dealer ships and they dont have it in stock.I will have to wait for atleast next 20 days-Meanwhile my mech also suggested me to change the carburettor diaphram. As usual thats also not available...But the issue seems to be reduced to less than 10 % for the last one week..Its not raining now..Anyways the evening rains are closer.I will update the thread once these two are changed and the perfomance is monitored....

I suspect the culprit to be with the fuel lid; consult with Swaroop/Kochu during the G2G. I remember one of them having similar issue with FZ. The solution could be the same.

                      try changin these,

trash d old carb n get a new one,

                      change d air filter

                      change d spark plug.

this will clear ur stallin prob fo sure.

Hope you're aware of the price of a new carb!!! And what if the issue wasn't with the carb

Sorry Bros..Could'nt be online for a few days.As for the update-

I cleaned the fuel lid breather hole and felt huge difference. Then as the stock became available -i got a new diaphram for the carb..after that we had the KL-vagamon G2G and another couple of solos to munnar and valparai..no issues till now.i will wait till the next trip .(Munnar-coorg) which we planned for november 11th and..by then i guess it will be time for a final conclusion
