The battery dies out once in about 2-3 months, i guess indicating that the charging is not happening correctly. I do not even use the emergency battery start also. My mechanic never gives a clear reasoning as to why this is happening. I decided to do some checks myself. First I got the battery recharged. Then I went over to an electronics store and purchased a DMM. I observed the following.
1. When the vehicle is off, voltage is 12.7 V
2. When switching on the ignition, there is no drop of voltage.
3. Switching on the indicator drops the voltage to around 12.58V
4. When I start the engine and rev it, there is so much variation right down from about 5V to around 13.5V
5. When i switch off the engine, the charge is again around 12.7V.
Could it be a problem with the rectifier/regulator, or is it a problem with the charging coil itself ? My bike is points system.
If it is a problem with the rectifier/regulator, how do I check it and which model of rectifier/regulator do i replace it with ?
Pls suggest

. You can consider alternate RR units from other bikes/vehicles (like the APE) .
