  • Lubricating & cleaning

    Hi,

I am planning to get a diesel wash of my bike done.

My question is whether is advisable to get the chain lubrication done before or after?

As may be during this wash what lubricant i would have applied ( in my case Motul chain lube ) would get washed away

Also if i give the bike for cleaning before lubricating, then would cleaning the chain before applying the lubricant be necessary?

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Karthik

P.S.:- i would really appreciate if i could get some answers to my question before Saturday as i am planning to get all this work done on Saturday with the monsoons having departed.

It would surely be better to wash the bike with diesel first & than get going with the Chain lube process.

        Thanks for the reply

then it wont be necessary to clean the chain myself before lubricating right?

That will depend on the current condition of your bike chain.

Its adivisable NOT to use diesel on the chain. It will be good if you can avoid that(diesel on chain)

After the bike wash, air dry the chain with the pressure hose that the washing centres use to dry the seat & spaces where they cannot wipe with a cloth. You can inspect the chain after this & take a call on to-clean or not-to-clean the chain more.

Note: If the chain has sediments stuck to it, its better to get it cleaned separately.

okay, the washing is anyway going to be done by the washing centre guys

i will tell them to take care of that

in that case i guess i will clean the chain and then lubricate it

            Thanks a lot!

Do not let the diesel remain on the paint for too long.. it might spoil the paint..

Get the chain cleaned thoroughly and remove the extra diesel and the when all the diesel is gone .. then lube the chain.. otherwise if you lube it too early.. the lube won't stay..
