  • Want to install 'Ignition Kill Switch'

I own a Discover 135 '07, I want to install a ignition kill switch (the red switch as in pulsars).
    my questions are/opinions are:-
    1. is it possible to modify the 'ride control switch' to somehow function as the ignition kill switch??
    2. is it possible to get hold of a Avenger 220's ignition kill switch & replace the existing ride control switch?
    3. Avenger 220's right handlebar switchgear is a direct fit but I think it doesn't have pilot lamp switch (mine has pilot lamps). Any idea what mods are required to use Avenger 220's switchgear???
I'm planning to use a DC 12V relay as to act as the ignition kill... Any better suggestions?

In case on any Hero Honda bikes ignition switch socket have some 6/8 wires in which if you get another wire attached to black wire & touch it on body it will act as a kill switch .
So if discover have same functioning black wire then you have to put a another wire joint to it & its other end attached to the ride control switch or anyother switch you using & second wire from switch needs to be ground ( body ) connected . Go get to some good mechanic & ask him is there similar kind of ignition kill technique in both Hero Honda bikes & discover . And then try it or better to ask the mechanic to make it

can you please elaborate on it, most mechanics won't understand what an 'ignition kill' means, so I want to be totally sure what I need... Sorry if I'm bugging you.

          @AboveAll,
I always had this doubt of fixing engine kill switch in Passion Pro. Have some of your friends tried this.? I have once seen an engine kill switch in CBZ Extreme. From your explanation, it looks like the process is very simple.

No you won't bugging me , i always like to help , but what more you want to eleborate me Is by ignition kill you mean when you on that button bike engine goes off if its running & won't start untill you switch off the button , if so then as i said above it is work 100% just go to good mechanic & ask him "I want to put a engine kill switch as there comes in bajaj boxer" if he knows then he will do same as i said but if he don't know then tell him what i said above .
            Any doubt ? Ask freely

I have a passion , & the ignition switch is got old ( 9 years ) so a lot more other keys goes in it & turn it on , so instead to put 500 rupees on new ignition switch assembly set , i invested 5 rupees on a button & 10 rupees on wires , so overall 15 rupees & hided the switch . So if anyone's keys can unlock my bike but he won't get it start . Also if someone ask me for my bike i give him key happly as he won't able to start it

i have got the idea, but can u explain it little further.whats TOICHING IT ON BODY means here??
if i m not wrong,short-circuiting this black wire with common NEUTRAL would work same as if we turn the engine off by moving key anticlockwise??

Is this wire always black in all HH bikes, i have CBZ-x 2011,how can i get access to that ignition switch black cable, does it connect through a Male-Female connector socket??
i am thinking to add one after my free services are over,as it wont harm my warranty (i guesss)

mine is a twin spark bike...
ok here are some things I could guess from your input & some I could make out from the wiring diagram...
                    1. cut the wire from CDI to spark plug.
                    2. join a wire, connect this wire to one end of a switch & ground the other point of the switch.
                    3. when we activate the switch, the current going to the spark plug is grounded. right?
                    4. won't there be any risk in grounding?

if I'm right, then how do we go about it, I have two different wires going from the CDI to the two spark plugs.

It does same in case of bikes having old analog speed & other console .
But can't say about digital speedo whose lights will be on when ignition is on regardless of day or night.. But in such a case its good to add a switch to positive terminal of battery , as there should be no kick start in Xtreme so no power supply , no start

o o o o o o on safer side i am telling you consult a good mechanic first , as i have experience of doing ignition kill switch only with HH Passion & Splendour , Not about Discover or any other bajaj bike , & don't know about CDI , just a simple thing that black wire from Ignition switch assembly connector needs to be grounded to act as engine kill switch in HERO HONDA Bikes .

So its always 100 times good to consult a good mechanic before trying .

thanks bro, with the switchgear problem solved, now I have to figure out how an ignition kill actually functions in a bajaj bike. Patiently waiting!!!!
