insurance expired !! what to do ?
guys i just realised my bike insurance expired 0n 17 july 2011 . nearly 3 months ago !! work life and the fact that i hardly ever ride my bike made me forget it . now what to do ??? which insurance co to go for renewing it ? it was done from shriram general insurance . i hope its not a problem as policy is expired so will there be any issues in renewing it ?? -
Go to any reliance fresh outlet and get an ICICI Insurance. It is cheaper bought from them, than when bought online. These days, many petrol bunks in Hyd. are having insurance agents visiting them often and they offer insurance on the spot. So, you can check if there is any such thing in your place. Some of the Happiest people in the world don't have everything. They just make the best of everything life brings their way !!! You can get it renewed at any insurance company. However, they will insist on vehicle verification (photographs will be taken) as the policy has lapsed.
They will tell you how much premium is to be paid taking vehicle IDV (Insurer Declared Value) as base for calculation, w.r.t. market rates.
On the down side, you may find that the premium quoted is higher than last year's premium, since the no-claim bonus expires after 90 days.
If you are still within 90 days, you can avail it even if you are changing the insurer.
Hope I was clear.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Re: insurance expired !! what to do ?
I would suggest you approach some reputed insurance brokers. They will help you renew you insurance policy in the existing company or else will also suggest you, if there, some better insurance policy that will best suit your requirements. The reason to approach an insurance broker is to get professional insurance advisory services and that too in an unbiased manner.

why are you not happy with the current insurance co? I had a fine experience with iffko tokio when my bike crashed and when it got stolen.. so though my P220 came with oriental insurance i switched to iffko tokio just for their service standards. Its upto you but a insurance is compulsory by law as well from the point of view of financial safety.Originally posted by mailmesamt View Postmotor insurance with them. Insurance renew and late fee
I'm using ICICI insurance from last two years for my CBR and its due for a renew on the first week of July. Now the thing is currently I'm out of town and it's hard to renew the insurance by sending someone from my family or friends.
I won't go for online renewal as they reduce the vehicle insured amount fairly low and the showroom guys are very responsive and take good care of the vehicle in case of any damage. So I will definitely go for an in-store policy renewal.
Now my question is, if I renew insurance 2-3 months after it expired what would the be the late fee amount? Is there any other option to switch to a new insurance company without paying the late fee? Just to mention, last year insurance premium was 3.5K.Last edited by hypheni; 06-26-2015, 11:21 PM.
