  • Pulsar's speedometer for Honda Unicorn

    Hello frnds,
I would like to install a digital speedometer cum odometer in my Honda Unicorn.
Is it possible to connect the Bajaj Pulsar/ Apache digital speedometer onto Honda Unicorn ? Or is it possible to connect the digital speedometer of Honda stunner or Honda CB?

do not go for pulsars speedo , unit it is designed for 17 inch wheels yours is 18 inch therefore go for a speedo from a bike having 18 inch wheels

I would like to know whether Honda unicorn has a mechanical/digital speed sensor ? If it is a mechanical sensor, then, how can we connect digital speedometers to it ?

you will need to change the worm gear assembly at the front wheel to the digital one. And for 18" wheels, try the speedometer from the new CBZ extreme.

Is the lower end of the cable that touches the front wheel called the Worm gear ? If yes, how much will it cost to change it to a digital one...And, Is Apache's 18inch wheel?
Where can it be converted to a digital one in Kerala ?

I have a doubt regarding wheel's inch ..What do you mean by the 17inch or 18 inch wheels? Is it the circumference of the wheel including the rubber tyre..or is it just the external circumference of the rim ?

It is the diameter of the rim. And yes 17" and 18" rims need different calibration of the speedometer to display accurate speed.

Unicorn got mechanical speedo and works via cable setup, but the digital unit requires sensors. So I doubt whether direct fit is possible.

I've installed a Pulsar classic speedo unit on Unicorn two years back.

If you try hard, only the speedometer will work, with lots of Error.

You have to modify the Fuel gauge and Temp sensor of your Unicorn to that of Pulsars to make the Fuel Gauge and warning lights work.

Is it really required? I have seen many Pulsars with Digital Speedo gone bad and hardly seen any Unicorn with a Speedo problem.

LCDs are subject to go bad after a certain time, I remember seeing this in my Canon SLR camera, where the LCD fitted cameras have 2 yr warranty, while a pure mechanical camera carries 7 yr warranty.

If you still want to opt for digital ones, then go for KOSO trademark Speedos, Just google them and watch the videos in Youtube you will love it. These speedos are mostly used as analog cluster replacement.

what if I go for a cbz extreme or Hunk digital speedo ?
Both of the motorcycles have almost the same configuration and specs, and almost same engine .. Can I go for this one ?

It was full analog unit and worked well without issues, Classic pulsar had 18 inch tyres, so no speedo error. Hardest part was mating the wiring.
