    Modification suggetion need to FZ-16 for touring purpose

    Dear All X Bhpian,

    First thanks to make me a mature biker.Right now I got a new Apache RTR 160HE T.Gray & Also planning for a second hand FZ -16 @34000.Reg-2009 Aug.I want to do some modification on FZ.Personally I dislike Major modification.As this is a second hand machine.I want to Change the below Modification.

    1.Wind Shield:Aftermarket Big wind shield which shown in the Police bike version of FZ. Can The Avenger Wind shield on FZ.What will be cost in Kolkata?Is there any Local Manufacturer. & also need a box for touring purpose . pls snuggest.

    2. Customs paint Job:Pls send your any views or Picture of painted FZ of your known for giving some idia to the painter.

    3.Kicker:As this bike dose not have any kicker.so I like to Add Kicker.How much it will cost? any idea?Can it fitted on my machine.

    As any further advice welcome for making the perfect tourer machine

      the windshield on a naked bike won't look good.
      why don't you install the FAZER's front which already has a windshield, will look stock fazer too..

      custom paint jobs really don't affect the touring performance of the bike, its an optional thing that you can do whenever you wish too.

      installing a kicker on your bike is NOT POSSIBLE, it doesn't have a cam shaft that can support the kicker, even if you do install such a cam-shaft, it still won't serve the purpose.
      Giving a lot to a fiero.
      Expecting a lot from a fiero.

        recent fz has kick so it might me possibe to fit kick, consult yamaha A.S.S.

          Dear all, Thanks you all buy I saw a bike in Kolkata police they are makings the bike awesome.Because they use 2 perfect side box.one big wind shield.2 light on leg guard.One big wind shield which is attached like FZ-S style.& the person said that this bike made for 'Disaster management Group.Almost 70 bike has been sent by yamaha..I think that's very very cool looking.but he dosen't have the idea about the modification.Do you guys have any idea???

            About the kick start.
            Here in pune, the yamaha factory service center installs a kick start for the FZ.
            Maybe you can try the service centers in your city.

              Yes they will install it & cost Rs.1800 for that.But do you guys any idea about the wind shield?? what will be the cost .or i can do the customization.

                  Installing a kicker is DEFNITELY possible. Hell, my limited edition came with a kick-start.
                  The kick start costs something around 2k-3k range.

                      hey mate, i made my FZ16 into an awesome tourer, i took the following steps (may not be to everybody's liking but thats my Idea what a tourer should be)

                      -I put a full fairing of the Fazer to the bike, it cost me 6000 bucks but is well worth it, cuz it deflects cold blasts of air away from my legs, plus it also has some aerodynamic benefits i think, above 90 kph, ie the bike is more stable, plus now it has got twin headlights, which means more illumination.

                      -changed the handlebar to the Fazer handlebar, cuz it is higher, and shorter in width, so it boosts confidence, and relaxes your wrists.

                      -Put a Proton free flow air filter, for the bike to breath better.

                      -Shortly i am going to invest in the 175cc block set available for the Fz16,
                      which will result in better performance.

                      -invest in a sidebag, plus seat nets for those trips to hilly terrian.

                      Here is my Customised Fz16 (NOT A FAZER as standard)



                      I gun the throttle, the motorbike wails, the forks heave up, the revs climb, my view blurs, air gushes in my lid, muscles tighten, street lights streak. Just another day at work...

                          @ wheeli junkie- Nice mod man, your bike looks good!
                          I too bought a new fz16, was thinking whether fazer fairing can be attached to fz16, you cleared my doubts! It looks good. What was the price of doing this mod, what changes were made to fit that fairing?
                          And installing kick is that costly? i mean 5k!
                          My dealer said its worth rs.2-2.5k, do we have to change anything in the engine to install that kick, hence more cost?
