    Some Questions Regarding Upjetting & Air filter

    Hii All, I just Installed a Cosworth Conical Air filter in my Suzuki Slingshot plus,I used to be really pissed of its terrible initial pick-up and wasn't expecting any miracles from it but to my surprise the machine feels very peppy now and i'm very happy with its performance(i have no intention to go 100+ or go racing).But now i have a few doubts i hope knowledgeable people in xbhb will clarify for me.
    1.I just fitted the air filter no carb tuning has been done(engine is heating up but not sure if it is abnormal),what size jet will be best for my bike?
    2.How much does jetting cost and whats the fair price to pay the Mechanic?
    3.I'm almost certain that my vehicles warranty is void but will the Service center refuse to Do periodic Service on my Vehicle? Or should i remove the Filter and Re-install the original Air filter before Taking the bike to service?
    4.Is it okay to leave the Air-box open after installing the air filter?Does it cause additional mileage short?

      I have no idea of jetting & even dont like free flow filters..
      But if you want to keep your bike's warranty intact, then install stock filter whenever visiting SVC.
      They won't be able to notice anything.

        I dont care much for warranty, i just want them to do the periodic service;btw i havent found a mechanic with spare time to tune the engine do you ppl know anyone near Calicut/Malappuram Dist.??

          jetting is necessary if we install a free flow filter
          .
          jets price range starts from 20 rs

          i got original keihen kit of 105 size for my DIO
          for 198 rs
          it includes
          main jet
          pilot jet and
          a needle
          .
          and they hardly take 100-150 max
          and ask him to tune the carb after putting the jets
          .
          but by doing all these u wont get significant gain in power
          only a little bhp is increased about 0.2-0.5 bhp
          thats it

            Actually i'm very happy with its performance now,bike's waiting for a twist to race from 30 to 70( up to 50 in fourth gear and shifts up) and settles at 80 easily(Never had the guts to ride above that nor the Road too)but i'm worried that running in stock jets cause any engine damage, pls reply

              K&N without upjetting will overheat the engine and will leads to premature damage of engine parts,oil seals,etc.IMO stick to stock filter and replace it every 10000kms.

                    Rashid, you should have searched for the relevant information before posting your query. This topic has been discussed extensively on this forum. There is a dedicated Air Filter thread on this forum, located in the Universal Threads section. Instead of cluttering any section, I would suggest you search the forum before posting the next time.

                      Thats not a good idea,Find a good mechanic and change it after that, if you want your engine to last long.

                        i do agree with him regarding point of over heating
                        used k&n for more than 10k kms without upjetting n result was premature damage to the engine
                        .

                        my mechanic bought it for me
                        he is h a technician at honda

                        so i can trust me regarding the jets
                        and they have keihen written on the jets too

                            Since i couldn't find a mechanic with enough spare time to do upjetting, i finally replaced cossworth with my stock filter:acceleration feels reduced but machine is very smooth up to 80 still my engine over heats any comments?
