  • [Photo Feature]: Royal enfield 350 STD Repair/modification

    Hi

I am owning a royal enfield 350 standard. I am doing the major work on my bike. I am doing the following in my royal enfield

1-/ installing the new disk break with then new fork(classic forks and disk break kit)
2-/ installing the new TCI kit but keeping the old point system.
    3-/ reprinting the bullet

And some small change like handle lock with new T etc.

    My question is

1-/ I am installing the TCI for this I think I have to change the crank shaft, tci magnet kit, coil, clutch beside and outside cover. But I want to keep the old point system because I still want to enjoy the thump. tci because I want to get rid of moister in the point and starting issue during rainy seasons. Will I have any issue in installing both tci and point.
2-/ any suggestion on colour - I am planning a dessert strom

    Please help

    Regards

    Sujeet

what's the cost involving setting up disc brakes for your bike? I mean the disc kit and fork and labour charges, etc.

Why do you want to replace fork assy? disc kit fits well on to old forks.

You can have both but need to sort wiring to keep one as standby circuit. But Cdi is the easier way to go you wont have to toss too many parts & also retain normal looks of std, easier still look for electronic ign kit offered by Autoescorts.

I am changing the fork only because my current fork has the oil leak problem and it will take around 1200 to get it repaired also I heard that new fork has the supporting for disk break which is not the case in old forks.

Secondly the new forks are around 4mm longer which gives the better jerk protection.

Thanks for the suggestion. I thought CDI first but it seems cdi failing rate is more than tci. Also it seems the TCI is the new technology and hence all the new bike is tci not cdi.

Do you thinkkeeping both will have any performance issue?

                    Thanks
