  • Bajaj XCD 125 help

I have a XCD 125cc done 57,000Kms and still working in top condition.
I have replaced both tires with tubeless MRF Zappers (100/90 -17 back)
    and giving over 60Kmpl.
I have not replaced any engine parts just normal maintenance stuff. Using Castrol Power 1 from 1000kms.

In my last service mechanic told me spark plugs coming to end of their lifetime and its good if i can replace them in the next service.

    1. So should i replace them with normal NGK or Champion plugs or should i go with Iridium or any other expensive plugs?

    2. My bikes recommended oil is 20w-40. Since its over 57k on odometer, should i switch to 20w-50 leaving Castrol Power 1 ?

    3. Is there any K&N or any good air filters for this?

#1. special plugs will help you with cold starts. Other benefits may not be observed.
      #2. Leave castrol P1.
Try out 20w50 (i would have already using 20w50 if in your place)
if not satisfied stick to 20w40 from motul/gulf/elf (elf is slightly thicker than other 20w40.)
#3. Dont use free flow filter its waste of money & time, unless you are racing..

        Welcome to xBhp.

        1. So should i replace them with normal NGK or Champion plugs or should i go with Iridium or any other expensive plugs?
NGK iridium will reduce mileage at slow speeds and it shows benefits only if your bike cruise above 100km/h for a long time,So its better to stick to stock plug. For best performance replace Spark Plug and Airfilter every 10000kms.

        2. My bikes recommended oil is 20w-40. Since its over 57k on odometer, should i switch to 20w-50 leaving Castrol Power 1 ?
        In My Opinion ,NO.

20W50 oil is thick and will leads to poor performance, top speed, acceleration and even drop in mileage.Stick to good 20W40 mineral oils.

Motul 3000 4T Plus 20W40 and Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40 are very good mineral oils cost's less than 250rs.

        3. Is there any K&N or any good air filters for this?
NO,Dont fix K&N,Its not going to increase power or mileage,it kills your engine earlier,As said before, replace your bike's current stock air filter with a new one(Stock filter) and have peace of mind.

stick to normal recomened ones- champion should be fine. no need to shift to expensive iridium or anything. your bike is not a performance bike that even 0.1 sec difference in 0-60 fig matters a lot. so stick to whatever is recomeneded in manual.

          2. My bikes recommended oil is 20w-40. Since its over 57k on odometer, should i switch to 20w-50 leaving Castrol Power 1 ?

again, there is no need to shift to 20-w-50, yours is a commuter bike and should be treated as one. besides 20w50 is thicker than 20w40. not recomended.
besides whether u want Xw40 or Xw50, both the grades are available in castrol power 1, and it is a good enough oil for your bike.

          3. Is there any K&N or any good air filters for this?
yes K&N is available but it is not advisable.

            Thanks for the replies guys!
Why you are not recommending Power 1 and asking to use normal mineral oil?
Anything bad with Power1? Semi synthetic not good for bykes?

              1. Spark plugs are removed at around 10-15,000 kms.
Iridium plugs give longer life and cleaner burning. It could help with cold starts. They cost anywhere around Rs. 900- 1100 for a pair of plugs. (2 of them)

Model "CR9EIX" should fit your bike.

              2. 20W50 differs from 20W40 in mostly the hot weather thickness (its thicker in 20W50). Avoid it. Keep 20W40 only.

              3. K&N?? Hmmm... in a commuter engine?
If you really want to do it, get it done by an expert mechanic only. Install the K&N Filter into the airbox. DO NOT REMOVE/ MODIFY THE AIRBOX in any case...

Later on, if it runs lean (heating up, less power, etc.) then you'll have to use a bigger main jet of the carburettor. Its an easy job, any mechanic can do. Try Model "BA2201", I think it should fit well.

SS is good,But many Castrol fakes are available in the market,so its better to stay away from castrol IMO. If you are getting the Original Castrol SS from an Authorized store, then you can use it.Remember only 20W40.
