Q: Whats is the stock Alternator wattage of Unicorn?
Motor cycle electrical is interesting stuff.
Coming from the basic formula of Watt=Amps X VoltagePower in >Power out
to retain the battery charge. That is if you provide 70 watt to charge to the battery and run a 60/55w Headlight the battery will easily drain considering you run 10W turn indicator lights and 21/10 Break / Taillights on most Indian bikes. Making that 60w+10W+10W+21W.M.R.B

55/60 watt bulb on uni
yesterday i purchased the philips 55/60 watt bulb and fitted in my stock uni without any changes to electricals..(I just replaced it) and got the results which are:
(A)The output even got worse ....
(B)I have to rev Hard but still wasnt able to do any good...brightness wasnt near to stock bulb of uni
(C)There was time gap of 3-4 sec if you want to use the high beam after low beam or vice versa...
(D) Also switching on the light it takes 2-3 sec for glowing of bulb..
(E) since pass switch was directly attched to battery so i could test this bulb at full capacity and then the results were amazing the sepread and the brightness were outstanding (almost 60% of car lights)
...so this makes my mind to have DC setup on my uni....
Now plz tell what are the changes required in wiring and the other electricals......does DC setup on uni can take load 55/60 watt bulb?...hows your battery performing any draining issues?....is there any way other than DC setup?...
In the forums somebody was posting that he made all the electicals to work on battery except headlight..so magneto is free to power only bulb and battery....would this help 55/60 watt bulb to glow at full capcity?..........

I can manage somehow in the city with the dim lights on the uni. But when it comes to highways, I need something brighter, much brighter.
I am thinking of sticking to 35W stock bulb on headlight, and add a 35w HID projector. I'll fit the HID on a mount when needed for a long trip.
Will the HID add extra load on the battery or is the battery capable of handling it?
