  • HELP: poor performance p150ug2

    i own a pular 150 ug2 , bought in nov 2005 , i feel
    from the beginning that the acceleration of my bike is
    inferior as compared to other pulsars, although the exhaust note is good, the max speed i can attain with my bike is just 100kmph,it refuses to go beyond.

    stock body parts
    regular servicing,fuel efficiency around 60kmpl,
    20w40 jaso,ma engine oil

      simple check-
      check whether you are running the petrol mixture lean.i feel so because you are getting better mileage compared to other bikes.
      lean mixture- more mileage less power
      rich mixture- average mileage and more power

      check for the tyre air pressure- if less then traction is more so acceleration is hampered but since you are getting good mileage we can quit this check.

      modifications-(that can be done, only if you want)
      go for a UNI or K&N air filter. i am sure you will get more power but be ready foe drop in mileage.
      Bikes don't spill oil, they mark their territory.

        It depends upon the engine .....

        Bajaj bikes always have these kinds of problems...

        One will give more top end less mileage......

        One will give less top end and more mileage but both will be in same cubic capacity........

        I belive its rather only to rewind the engine
        SInce i belive u are servicing her only in bajaj service centress.....

        But futher things can be done - on tuning your jet....

        Try for upjetting her......this may do the tric,......

                How long has it been since your bike was serviced?

                Do these things:
                1. Check electrolyte level in the battery, top up if required with distilled water only.
                2. Clean and lubricate the chain. Clean with diesel and lube using 2t oil or 90W gear oil.
                3. Clean spark plugs (Inspect them while you are at it). Get rid of the carbon deposits using sand paper and petrol. Check plug gap.

                I did all the above few days back and there is a noticeable difference with the smoothness and acceleration of my bike.

                Oh yes, 60kmpl means you are running lean. Go to a mechanic and get the carb tuned.

                    Not sure, but does the battery supply affect the strength of the spark in anyway? There was an improvement after I carried out the aforementioned jobs, so can't say which one led to the improvement, but I guess a clean, lubricated chain and a clean spark plug will give good results.

                    Few more things:
                    1. Clean air filter and carb.
                    2. Clean the front disc and make sure the pads aren't binding to the disc more than required. Same applies to rear drums - the rear brake lever spring doesn't spring back if ridden in a lot of slush and rain.

                      @mods

                      i feel the thread can be closed.
                      i think adycool05 has got the queries solved. And there is no more interactions happening.

                        i dont think the batery affects..since my bike did a whole 100km long road trip..n i didnt even realise the battery wire was disconnected..

                        but the lubed chain n clean spark plugs will sure help...

                        @topicstarter - issue resloved yet?
