  • Honda unicorn starting issues.

    Hi all,
I have a 2005 model Honda unicorn. Recently it is troubling me a lot.
When I take a hault after riding for about 20 - 3- mins, & then try to start it it does not start. While cranking the engine sometimes the kick reverses back & then it fails to start. A noise comes after cranking it, something like ...putuk...and kick reverses. Any of you faced such issue..Let me know.
    Thanks all.

Yes dude, my bike suffers from cold starts problems. Also sometimes i feel the engine is running sluggish & being overheated (sounds very fast). Once or twice I observed engine stalling at signals & then the bike refused to start easily. It made some noise (putuk with kick reverse). Then I had to crank it several times.

I had that mentioned problems with my Uni. Get cleaned the carb several times at Honda service center, still it existed. Then a local mechanic found the problem was with spark plug (which was new indeed, also filter was new)which service center guys changed earlier. After installing proper spark plug which is optimal for Uni, my bike is smooth once again.
Use full choke and start engine with the thumb starter n cold mornings. After starting the engine adjust the choke to make sure rpm is not beyond 2k. release choke completely after 1-3 mins. Also check the oil level and changing intervals
