  • Battery Woes

I left my keys in my RE Thunderbird TS (UCE engine) for a few days in the 'on' position.
    Yeah, dumb thing to do!

The bike won't start now, even with the kick start. Is that problem independent of the battery? The fuel tank is full.

The battery is gone. One guy tried charging it, but he says it's gone. I'll have to buy a new one now.
He says the original one that comes with the thunderbird (Exide Freedom) costs 2800, but another one of the same brand costs 1800 and does the same job. The only difference is that the warranty is 6 months instead of an year.
Can a 6 month warranty actually cost a thousand bucks? Or is he trying to fool me? There must be something different about it.

    Which battery to go for?

take the battery to a battery shop and tell him to -
      • check water level.
      • check electrolyte gravity
      • charge the betteryand ask him to check the battery
sometimes even a deeply discharged battery be brought back to life.

I don't have much info about RE
        but
if your bike is does not start with a totally dead battery then your bike has a TCI ignition which means that it needs juice from battery to operate the spark plugs.
Go to a local battery shop and get the battery recharged .
If it is a non-sealed battery then check for electrolyte level etc ...as mentioned by prince.
