  • 2006 karizma: K&n

My brother bought Karizma back in 2006 & currently the total Trip traveled in bike is just 10100 KM, I've been using the bike since 1-year.
Initially I used to ride Yamaha Rx-135 , as you know the bikes performance is very different from Karizma.
ZMA's acceleration in 3rd gear discomforts me . Its just that I was so used to riding RX, I upshift to 4th gear usually at 75-80kmph. And that's very hard in ZMA, where I upshift at 55-60kmph @ ~4600RPM.

I thought of installing K&N filter to Karizma, as it provides relative boost in acceleration. And obviously the filter sound is sweet . However, I read that the Carburetor needs Upjet before fitting in the K&N.
I need some advice from you guys please. Does K&N have negative impact on Engine over long run? Is upjetting necessary? Its true that fuel efficiency reduces quite a bit with K&N , can I expect 30KMPL? Currently the mileage is 36KMPL.

The bike color is Reddish Maroon ( I hope you can visualize the Old model ZMA color ) . I thought of getting the bike painted White and just have 3 stickers over it ( the ones which are generally present ). Because white makes the bike look more sportive. Adding on to that, chrome colored paint over the Silencer. Please tell me if that's a good idea?

    Cheers
