His last stint with a bike was on my old second hand pulsar. Unfortunately it wasn't a very good experience for him and he refused to learn to ride after that. I later learnt the brakes were faulty. I didn't have a license in those days, I was 17, bought a bike but never got the ownership transferred, never wore a helmet (a tier 2 city, Visakhapatnam has almost no helmet rule), and never heard of riding gear.
Fast forward to today, I have a Karizma ZMR, a helmet and a valid license. But the bike is pretty hefty for a newbie to start with. My brother is 5'10" (I guess) and I am 6'1". Since my brother has for the first time asked me to teach him, I am clueless as to how to go about it. Having experienced the risks of riding I was until now hesitant to cajole him into riding. I was 17 when I tried teaching him. It was adrenaline and that rush that hooked me to riding. But today, I am saner and want to be a resposible rider both for me and while teaching my brother.
I want to know, how to teach him? Any suggestions are welcome.
Bangalore has any training schools?
My idea until now:
I was intending on getting another helmet for my brother, some gloves to protect the fingers, knee pads(?) I was intending to get these too. I'm hoping a nylon jacket can give minimum protection. A leather jacket right now is too much expense.
Finally, how to teach him to ride on a ZMR? It's too hefty for even me to control if he makes a fall. All my friends only have an R15 or P220s. No humble splendor or passion at all.
Thanks everyone!
Let's make a biker
