    HELP:Yamaha RX 100 Knocking

    Hello friends please help me to eliminate the knocking problem of my Yamaha RX 100.

    The problem is that whenever I twist the throttle and go beyond 80 KMPH I hear the knocking sound,also the bike looses speed suddenly as if the compressed charge was leaking from somewhere,I fail to understand the problem,I have cleaned my carb thoroughly but the problem still persists,below 80 Kmph the bike is as good as any other RX-100,kindly help.

      could you describe the sound of the knock a bit more..i mean is it a low deep knock??

        Knocking? Are you sure.
        Knocking is detonation. Caused by un-initiated ignition of fuel. Also known as pre-ignition.
        These are a few reasons why an engine would knock,
        *Running very high compression, but thats only on race engines
        *Running poor rating fuel
        *Faulty ignition timing
        *Lean set-up

        Basically looks like the ignition is off. Get it set to stock setting and things will fall in place. It might be running too much of advance.

            If i can hear a metallic sound coming from the engine only when i cross 80 then it must be knock right??????????

            i didnt get by "ignition off " term,please elaborate.

                the ignition timing is off...

                the technical "knock" is almost always caused by it...

                  I suspect its your piston rings which is making that sound, check it asap.
                  "Engine tuning is not an exact science, but with some practice and patience you'll get comfortable with your skill and be able tune for any conditions mother nature throws at you"

                    Piston rings will only give a clatter. This is knocking.
                    yes, if its a metallic noise, then yoru ignition timing is off. get it corrected.
