  • Pulsar 180 classic stability problem from 70km/h onwards

    I own a pulsar 180 classic .. (2002 round head lamp model)
im using a 120/80 rear tyre since 2 years .. front tyre is stock size,
and have changed my rear suspension to the nitrox gas shocks some 2 months back... because my old shocks got worn out.
all the other parts are stock.

The top speed ive reachd on my bike is 115kmph wich was quite stable on my old rear suspension...
but now since ive put the nitrox suspension just when im in between 70-80 i feel im losing control of my bike!! .
Having serious stability problems at this speed so cant even think of goin above!

Im aware that the new dtsi pulsars have a longer swing arm wich increases the stability of the new bikes.
Is it advisable to switch to the long swing arm ...
if yes then which 1 wud be preferable
-the 180 dts-i swing arm or
    -the 150 dts-i swing arm?

nd plz tel me the cost roughly .. i need to kno coz i hav already spent some good saved money on the suspensions.
    Thankyou in advance!

@Ripper .... how do u find the handling nd pick up..?

Is the handling better than the Classic swingarm...?

does the new swingarm and longer chain affect the pickup of the bike.?

hw much did u pay for the parts?

Sorry I am not really an expert but i had the problem with the rear side i changed the swing arm bush and if that doesn't work probably its sprocket bearing or rear bearing.I have also had similar experiences with my UG#3 2007 pulsar sometimes i feel like its out of control and jumps up a bit at normal speeds too.my bike isn"t that great when it comes to control when you cross more than 65 ..

The conversion of the swing arm should cost you Rs 1500/- approx. You might have to extend the chain or get a new one... a full chain cover (recommended) as well. Also if your bike is jumping around on bumps you should have the shocks checked, reduce the softness and try riding at that setting for sometime. Also the older shocks that you were using were shorter than the new ones you installed so that could be one reason. Also check the swing arm bushings, wheels bearings and the front fork for any alignment issues.... let me know what hapenned.

Itz proving to be a bit costly for me... as i hav to fit in a new battery nd hav other priorities....

ill use the original shocks for sometime

                    will perform the mod later.

ill keep ur suggestions in mind...

thnkyou for ur help every1 .. especially Ripper
